Has the Expo started ?
I believe today first half secured for Business Visit or Media Visit.
Waiting for latest update and Pictures. :) |
The expo is in Feb first week.
We, a bunch of friends from my hometown are going to visit Auto Expo 2018. We already bought the tickets and booked accommodation. We are excited about Suzuki Jimmy and Jeep Renegade. Just wanted to know who all are going to visit Auto Expo and on which dates? It "ll be great to meet some of the BHPians at Auto Expo. We"ll be there at Auto Expo during 10th & 11th Feb.
Personally, I am very much interested in Jeep Renegade, It seems a perfect replacement for my MS Vitara Brezza after 2 or 3 years.

New Upcoming Cars At Auto Expo 2018 – Jeep Cars
Jeep Renegade
Jeep Renegade is undoubtedly one of the most important products to join our list of new upcoming cars at Auto Expo 2018. This SUV has already created lot of buzz much before its launch here. The smallest SUV in Jeep’s range has been spotted testing in India near Fiat’s production unit in Pune, Maharashtra. Based on the FCA Small Wide 4×4 platform, the entry level off-roader will share underpinnings with Fiat 500X and Compass. As for the mechanicals, Renegade is expected to get 2.0-litre Multijet2 engine from Fiat. This unit will offer power in two states of tune-138bhp and 168bhp and will get a choice between 6-speed manual & 9-speed automatic unit with 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain. |

I guess they are going to unveil something new in each of the segments indicated there.
First being a derivative of the Ace.
Second being their
LandRover derived SUV.
Third being a new CV.
Fourth being their
premium hatchback.

Exactly my thoughts! The top design of the bonnet is similar to hexa while the area near the wiper blades is ditto like the Nexon.
Could have smoked headlamps along with two striped DRLs.
Going by the image, even this conclusion could be wrong as there is nothing much to be learnt from it!

Came accross this on Twitter, I am unable to understand why will a company try to compete with its Parent company? 🤔

They can because Hyundai and Kia are minority shareholders in each other. That is not a parent-child relationship.

Tata's sneak peak of their first car is a joke! Now I know not to check for other 4 until they show the real one during Auto Expo. We can expect actual production version around 2020/21 going by their past record.

Thats their strategy worldwide.
Product would be Creta based but having Kia flavours. Companies are happy as long as you buy any of their products - be it Creta or the Kia SUV.
Unlike the badge marketing we have seen with Renault - Nissan, VW - Skoda etc these two maintain different identities even if that platform underneath their products is the same.

I agree with you and i know with other manufacturers, but Hyundai has established themselves in Indian Market, question is will Indian Market accept Kia's SUV against Creta?
When the Kia SUV is released by then Creta might get updates. It will get established more.
Other manufacturers did it, cause their products are not selling well.

Hyundai knows the tough work they did to establish the brand in India. Y S Kim who headed Hyundai during this crucial period is going to be the man running the show at Kia now. If anyone can crack the Indian car game again - it's them.
I personally feel it is a good strategy to start at Creta levels first. Top down strategy gives a better brand image, lesser volumes but more profits and more time to establish the brand.
Given a choice between Hyundai and Kia products- I would pick the latter. Good designs (Elegant and not fluidic) being the main factor. Expecting them to put up the biggest show this year at the expo.

I see dates are shown under each silhouette. Does this mean unveiling of these vehicles will take place in next 4 days even before Auto Expo? Why not unveil during Auto expo?
