Re: The 2018 Auto Expo Thread

First the rear of the Nexon and now the H5X. Looks like 2 completely different people designed the front and the rear. Why is it so difficult to design a clean simple SUV?

@Tata: Please fire the guy who is designing the rear of the vehicle.

Re: The 2018 Auto Expo Thread

The roll cage on the stinger looks like it's lower than the front seat headrest.I am no car design expert but isn't that fundamentally wrong?

Kudos to Tata,Kia and Toyota for showing up with very relevant products!

So looks like the analog displays are going to die before I complete writing this post.

All cars on display look like the interiors are being built around the digital screens.

What is with the the Mahindra design? The Rexton grill draped in chrome looks ugly.

The TUV convertible looks ugly inside out.

Fully agree with your comments .
Looks like 2 truck tires are housed in the boot which gave birth to the 2 humps there with third smaller tire looking for some fresh air and the designers forgot to make a hump. What a loser this third tire

After the ambitious XUV design, the new Mahindra designs are no more a desirable one.
Tata's have turned around the perception around their cars with much better looking, modern and future proof designs.
So I have just one message for the TUV convertible designer.

Why do people keep commenting on design skills? Yes they employ a hell lot of freshers one of the largest in the Indian auto sector who work in r&d.

Secondly people forget good designs like the commodo

Re: The 2018 Auto Expo Thread

Almost all launches using shades of orange. Orange is definitely the 2018's Colour of the year when it comes to cars. I for one don't like it one bit but hey, these are all subjective.

So far stinger has been the most ugly and TVS Zeppelin the most beautiful exhibit

Re: The 2018 Auto Expo Thread

Tata: has me drooling over their design and products. They are doing some amazing work with their new products. On H5X- I think this is the best angle to look at.

The 2018 Auto Expo Thread-20180207t055905z_01_del06_rtrnsrp_0_indiaautoshow.jpg

Additionally, comparing the Nexon prototype from expo earlier and the production Nexon model- there weren't a lot of design changes. H5X may also retain most of its design bits from the prototype displayed here. With the 140HP 2L engine, Tata's penchant for spacious interiors and ride quality, this will prove to be a hefty competition for Creta & Duster. Heck, I will be ready to plonk down 15-16L on road for a H5X 5 seater 4x4 top variant. I think I am going to wait for this to be launched.

The design has some lines from fortuner and This would be more evident in the 7 seater version. with 180HP 2L diesel burner, it might even be worthy competitor to Fortuner and Endy.

Mahindra: Their design team has gone bonkers. Despite owning the Pinifarina design studio, I do not see any influences here.

The 2018 Auto Expo Thread-123.jpg

The TUV convertible is downright ugly. They better kill this hideous design before they bring it to market.

Couldn't agree more. Tata's Corus acquisition failed, and one of the major reasons was they were not able to get the good bits from Corus to Tata and vice versa. This has markedly changed in Tata's acquisition of JLR. JLR's inputs in Tata products is really helping them work wonders.

That's the trend. Heck, sometime down the line, it might be cheaper to manufacture digital displays than analogue displays. Not only digital displays, as the technology matures with IoT, we will see more and more integration of digital technology in to automobiles. Good example in point being Tesla cars. As of now, this is already present in luxury cars, it will slowly trickle down to budget cars as well.

They own Pininfarina. They do not employ or even take inputs from them. They employ tacky designers who intentionally screw up products.

One also needs to look at the geographical distribution of KUV sales to find if there is actually a market for this type of vehicle.
Couple of things:
1. The Stinger convertible is based on the TUV and not the KUV
2. Goenka clearly said it's a concept and have no plans for production
