Here is the power-train of the PHEV,

XC90 T8 Inscription gets a 2.0-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 320bhp and 240Nm of torque. Along with the electric motor however, the XC90 T8 Inscription generates 398bhp of max power and 640Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission, with the power getting transferred to the rear wheels through the electric motor while the front is powered by the petrol mill. With the help of the electric motor, the XC90 T8 Inscription can travel up to 32 kms on a single charge and can sprint from 0-100kmph in just under 6 seconds.

The electric motor can be charged with a power outlet of 110V or a 240V for about 12 hours or six hours depending on the outlet. Moreover, the XC90 T8 Inscription also gets the brake energy recuperation feature that charges the electric motor every time the brakes are applied. The company will offer two charging stations to the customers at no additional cost. These charging stations can charge the XC90 T8 Inscription in about 2.5-hours

Volvo Cars to launch plug-in hybrid in second half of 2019.

Swedish luxury car maker Volvo Cars India would introduce 'Make in India' battery operated plug-in hybrid during the second half of this year.

Managing Director, Charles Frump :

We are going to be the first automotive company in India to have a Make in India, plug-in hybrid. That will be coming on XC90 in our Bangalore facility, in the second half of the year.

The company besides introducing the hybrid would also look at tapping rural markets in the country under its plan to expand footprint.

Volvo S60 likely to be assembled in India from Day 1, to launch in 2020.

Currently, Volvo assembles the XC60 and XC90 SUVs and the S90 sedan in India, and locally assembled models account for 60% of its total sales.

The new S60 is available with a sole petrol engine option –a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit that’s offered in different states of tune. There is no diesel engine available for the new S60 globally. Power output ranges from 190hp for the front-wheel drive, turbo-petrol T4 all the way up to 390hp for the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid model. The T8 combines a 303hp, supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine driving the front wheels with a 65kW electric motor powering the rear wheels. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is standard for all models. An interesting thing to note is that Volvo will start assembling the XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid in India later in 2019, and could offer this powertrain on the new S60 in India as well.
