I don't think that Figo is getting shelved. Isn't it the common norm? Manufacturers tend to launch the compact sedan version first and then the hatch. Maruti launched the Dzire first and then the swift. Similarly, Tata had launched the Zest first and then Bolt.
As far as pricing goes the Figo should have the most affordable price tag when compared to Freestyle or the Aspire.

Except that when you consider the sales/dispatches chart, you'll see that ever since the Freestyle was introduced it has killed the Figo (despite broadly regular dispatches of the Aspire). Even the Linea had more dispatches than the Figo!

I too was under the impression that there would be a facelifted Figo on the cards, but when these figured were pointed out to me by volkman10, it did make me wonder if the Figo would see the light of day...

Unless Ford can really price the Figo really well, I doubt it will find many takers. In fact Ford might just be tempted to make the more profitable Freestyle. (Like the Jazz vs WRV)

In order to even sell 100 pieces a month, the facelifted Figo has to be priced at an insanely low level, with variant per variant sitting at much lower price points than the Freestyle, where Ford might realize that it may not be profitable selling the Figo at all.

For all purposes, Freestyle is the new (and better) Figo (with claddings).

They already have it and it's doing pretty good. The Ecosport.

If they intend to bring back the Figo hatch it needs to be priced around grand i10 or lower levels , else would be really tough to get off the shelf with the freestyle already there.

The only way I see the Figo selling is as an automatic. Introduce the Figo in 2 or 3 automatic only variants, including a diesel one, price it well and it will sell. Icing on the cake would be a 1.2 automatic hatch, if they can price it well

With its new engines, upgraded equipment and more aggressive pricing, the new Aspire has a lot more to offer now. A proper step up from the one it replaces, it is a car that now feels like it is back in the game.

The facelift makes it look fresh, its cabin is now nicely updated, its new gearboxes make it light and easy to drive and with its new price (and positioning) the Aspire now undercuts most of its rivals on price.

The new petrol engine may feel a bit lethargic at low engine speeds, some rivals may feel larger inside and out, and others may be better equipped, too.

But, if you are looking for a car that's practical on the one hand and entertaining and enjoyable to drive on the other, no other car in its class delivers a stronger performance. Make sure you drive the diesel before you sign on the dotted line for a compact sedan; it sure does hit the spot.

With the changes, the Aspire is definitely a much better package. The key takeaway for us is that the Aspire petrol no longer has a chip on its shoulder. It isn’t going to be the unloved child in the engine lineup, anymore. It’s easy to drive and has enough pep when you’re in the mood for some fun. It’s just as desirable as the diesel in our books.

The cherry on the cake is the fact that it's actually lighter on the pocket than before. Petrol variants are at least Rs 16,000 cheaper, and if you're eyeing the mid-spec Trend, that's a full Rs 34,000 less. What's also appreciable is the introduction of the new Trend+ variant that sits at roughly the same price as the old Trend, and offers a bucketful of added features. It's a similar story with the diesel variants too, that are anywhere between Rs 6000 to Rs 55,000 cheaper.

Yes, the glam bits are still missing. You don't get projector headlamps, daytime running lamps, keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering, or even cruise control. But, there’s some real substance in the form of side and curtain airbags that we’d rather have over these frills. The challenge for Ford was to deliver all of the flashy bits while maintaining the level of safety. That sadly hasn't happened this time around.

That said, let’s revisit the original question. Should you be putting your money on one? If you're okay compromising on a few flashy features for a sedan that gets the essentials of a nice engine, comfortable ride and ample space right, then yes. The update ensures that the Aspire is better than ever.

The previous Aspire was quite a feature-rich car, which made it one of the most value for money offerings within the segment. Majority of the goodies were exclusive to the range topping trims though, but it turns out that majority of the Aspire's sales come from the Titanium/Plus trims. That highlights the fact that the typical customer aspiring for this car is looking for better safety, comfort, and convenience and on those fronts, the updated Aspire has become a stronger package overall, without compromising on its value-for-money stand.

The current gen Figo sold only 5 units last month, and might be discontinued soon. The facelifted Figo might be launched in 2019.

MotorBeam review says that the space is at premium while the ZigWheels says if you want safety and space, its Aspire. Given the pricing of FreeStyle and Aspire, new Figo whenever launched is going to be VFM for sure

They haven't tuned the ABS, as per a video review posted, which they could have in the face-lift.
The ABS is over sensitive and can catch one off guard if they are not aware of it. I had mentioned this is my ownership report that if one wheel hits a light patch of sand or small undulation, the ABS kicks in and really doesn't help in braking.

Motor Octane's Rachit Hirani says the AC throw isn't really great at the back if someone's sitting in the front seats, and that rear AC vents are badly missed.

No way it is badly missed, this point is plain nitpicking I would say. Aspire/Figo have a powerful air conditioner and a very good throw which cools the cabin evenly and not any specific area alone. This is, unless they have altered anything with the a/c vent/grill design.
