Is it advisable to put [TN XX BE 253]. Coz thats how i've got it done.

In case if caught by Traffic Police will he bring this up as an issue?

Need ur advice BHPians!! TY :)

CG 07 0007
CG 07 H 0007
CG 07 LB 0007
CG 07 LJ 0007
CG 07 LX 0007

it wouldn't cost more than 15k in this part of the country. in contrast to this '' CH 01 '' is a bolt from the blue.

@avinaush: I've been caught once for the same reason, i'd reckon four digits to be on safe side.

That's what I like about Mumbai. You're free to keep a single / double / triple digit on your plate if that's what the number is. I don't know about law, but people don't get pulled over for this, for sure. IMO a 1 looks way better than a 0001, the latter defeats the purpose.

Interesting thread, Guess I missed it earlier. Since 1998 all out cars have the number 9955. Very funny story behind it, in 1998 we purchased our 1st Tata Safari ( Sold that in 2005 and bought another one), the head RTO inspector at the time was a friend of ours, at that time we use to register our cars ourselfs and not through the dealer. He casually asked us what number we wanted, we told him whatever sounds nice, he pulled out his calcular did some calculations and gave us the number 9955! Since we liked it we said ok!

Ever since that time all our cars have 9955, except one as I wanted the number 1516, just to see if we could get it! And I got It.

Fellow team mem's,

Have anyone been using AK-47 as vehicle number. I feel this is pretty much exciting one too to add to VIP list.

See the number format :

KL-XX
------
AK-47

Its again for bid and huge quotes are already existing to get hold of this number. Let me know your comments about this number. The pro's and con's of using it as vehicle number.

Dont' put me in firing line...lol....

Interesting article on this in today's Times of India Pune edition. Front page. Talks about superstition and bollywoods obsession with special numbers.
Actor Sonu Sood with Q7 with number Q 7.
Sanju baba's 4545
SRK's 555 etc are listed in the article.

The law is to put 4 digits. In Delhi people do get hauled up for non - compliance.

Recently I had my car stopped by Chennai Traffic cops and they asked me to change my car number to 0007. I would have rather settled for 7000 which was coming at just 1/10th the sum I had paid for a single 7. Anyways, these cops wouldn dare to flag down a Scorpio/Safari/Endeavor/Fortuner/Pajero with cartoonish numbers cos the vehicle befits the number and it conveys that some biggie is on the move. A lesson learnt. Trying to sport VIP numbers on smaller cars is like seeing a BABY WITH A MOUSHTACHE and who cares..........lol:

Quite right you are JEHU! Small cars with "big" numbers don't work. I mean atleast in "namma Tamilnadu". Thats one of the reasons I didn't get one for my Swifty and stuck to more non-obvious number. Anybody and everybody has got a single digit number back in my place, so much so that its kind of lost its value. Hmmm.

Here are some of my numbers
Civic -KA XX X 1001
City - KA XX X 2345
Bike - KA XX X 9898
800 - KA XX X 2898

I never paid for having a particular number and we try to make an logic on our numbers to remember them. As JEHU said, VIP numbers of small cars or two wheelers are mustache on a little baby, but it also shows a little bit of here in Chennai. Of course, the SUVs gain a lot more respect.

In Delhi we have

1. VIP Numbers
eg:- DL-*C-xx-xxxx (xxxx being 9999,0099,7272 etc)
and
2. Fancy Number
It goes like DL-*F-xx-xxxx

C is for car and F is for fancy.
First I thought it was a joke but at RTO i found F is really for fancy number and there are certain extra charges for it.

I personally have 0027,9000,7272 in my family.
Never paid a dime just goodwill of my uncle.

I have seen some vehicles bearing the numbers like D** 1 , D** 2 or something like DA* 7.
What is the price for these numbers and are they really difficult to get ?

Aren't these registration transfer from old cars? One of my father's friend has these numbers on all his cars D** 1. He owns a couple of petrol pumps in Delhi, Haryana & UP (West) IIRC.
