No Sorry.. No Thank You
That is what we are hare for... sharing gyan.
It is sort of craze in Punjab. Not every time you can get hands to VIP numbers (those are auctioned these days). This way it is cheaper. Moreover, a non-VIP number will look unique & catch the eye. Say - If my car has a regn no. - DL 3CAB - XXXX, it would look regular. But, if the same has got a old no. say - DLC-XXXX, it will be easily spotted & many people will be curious to know how I get the number.

I believe the old vehicle regn surrender scheme in favour of new vehicle are operational in most parts of country (even in Delhi, as I have seen few cars with old numbers), but not sure. Can somebody check & confirm this?
A municipal councilor residing in my society has the number DL 11 S 0001 for, Hold your breath,
his HH splendor. :D
And yesterday, I saw a red beacon Innova bearing the number HRS 27 on NH 1

From an Austin to a Merc to an Accord, what next:D
spotted an old merc (may be orange color) reg. no. DAD 1 (till yesterday it was parked at pailka bhawan)
I bought a Thunderbird with the number 990 (previous owner paid 500!) and then I bought a Safari with the number 8888 (previous owner paid 13000:Shockked:)
It now puts immense undue pressure on me to pay for a VIP number next time I buy a new vehicle. Am thinking 8889
Adi
Got my drive which bears 4555, i paid 8000 bucks for it. & for the 2 wheel ride 2k each.
Swift - TN 21 AC 4555
(OT)
A150 - TN 21 J 4555
Dio - TN 21 AF 4555
HH Passion Plus (Sold out) - TN 21 E 4555
HH Splendor (Sold out) - TN 21 H 4555
I got 9669 for my car. I noticed it after I bought it.
My dad was superstitious earlier and used to get a certain number astrologers "prescribed". It did not work out too well for his last car. Now he does not give a rat's fart to the number :)
On second thoughts, my bike sports 2596 - the first two and the last two digits are mirror/upside-down images on the digital font. :)
Spotted a BHPians E60 BMW 540i, wearing a numberplate that read 540.
I have got #4 for my vehicles :
HH Splendor : DL** ** 0202 : 0+2+0+2 = 4
Santro Xing : DL** ** 1642 : 1+6+4+2 = 13 = 1+3 = 4 :D
Somehow got 0202 for my bike without even asking for.
Going through facebook, saw this one.

Hye guys, i dont understand certain fancy numbers, but surely i dont fancy myself getting a fancy number. Recently my car was registered and the number is TN 09 BD 787.
can any enthusiast tell me if 787 is a fancy number :D
