Tata Nano: RJXX XX 0001.
For only Rs. 5000 (Standard charge for Fancy Number) without any auction. Local RTO was happy to oblige us on this one.
Now how many Merc, BMW, even Ferrari owners have this sort of luxury! :thumbs up

When did Tata start deliveries of the Nano? Try and post facts only.
How do most of you get your VIP numbers booked? Directly or through an RTO agent?
Guys..
intially i paid 25000 for getting TN 02 AD BOSS (8055) for my verna.. but after i got the approval by that time, i had changed my mind. As the approval had come for TN 02 AE 8055..i fought with hyundai HMI chennai team and got back the money :)
But later for my Bullet machismo, i paid 3000 and got boss (6055)...hahaha..Small BOSS :)
Mines 7089. Paid 1k for it. The Maruti guy oversold it saying 789 meant progress(upward going numbers in sequence). Yeah sure, ever since I got my car, I've been having some trouble or the other so I guess it did mean progress..... not for me but for MASS! I keep coming back for repairs! hahahahaha
I paid only 2500 for my lancer number 3231. But in case of swift I bought it used.So thanks to the previous owner who paid around 20000 for the number 5555:)

One can do it directly while registering a car at the RTO, or thru an agent which costs a little but saves time and waiting or even the dealers do it thru their agents. All of it costs money[official charge+ service charge]. The RTO has a list of the numbers and the premium.
What Is the Present Condition In Delhi ????

I have always gotten it done thru an agent. The dealers keep a fat margin on registration hence I prefer getting a local agent to do it for me and pay him 3000 or so.
But I do find that certain agents get greedy when they know they are registering an expensive car. Whereas the same number in a cheaper car is done with ease.
Scooby- Do you have a particular reliable agent at thane RTO that you always use?
My Numbers for my new cars/scooter purcahsed from Showroom remain the same :
1989 LML Vespa - AP 9 XX 1414
2000 Maruti Alto - AP 13 XX 1414 (Sold)
2005 Opel Corsa - AP 20 XX 1414
2008 Mitsubishi Cedia - AP 10 XX 1414

I am a Dealer principle and we have to register all display cars and test drive cars.
I avoided this fact noting the forum policy about commercial promotion of any particular dealership. :)
I had a white Zen with a 7777 number plate in Bangalore. Had paid about 5K for it in 2003. Fetched me at least 10K more than the normal market value in 2007. :)
Hey guys i was wondering how much extra money can i get on a number plate something like 0888 or 0555 or 0111 while selling the car.
Sorry mods did'nt know where to post it so i just posted here.
You would be lucky if you convinced someone that a VIP number plate is justifying a higher asking price. I suppose if the car is in top condition, the plate could add a bit to the asking price as it can be projected as a very well maintained and cared-for vehicle.
PS: Another thing I noticed on my only trip to Delhi a year ago; a much higher percentage of cars in DL have special plates as compared to what I notice in Mumbai.
I have seen classified advt mention Fancy Number as one of the attributes of the vehicle.
How much it adds value, I have no idea.
Maybe for some people its very important.
There was some news about a new rule that would allow owners to retain the numbers. Dont know what happened to it.
