My first car number is 0682 and wanted to either 0682 or 0683 for my Bolero to maintain a series. But I needed to pay 5K for that which I thought was absolutely useless.

OT: All those who pay obscene amounts to get a particular number also change their names or add alphabets towards their numerological beliefs.

its not true....the cost of the number plate depends on how advanced you pick the series. for example if the rto has opened the BA series and u want some other series which has not been in the market you pay a higher price and of course the price also depends on the type of number if its a fancy number or a vip number or even a govt number..

it is not a question of series. it is the question of vip and fancy numbers

We here in dehradun have a fixed rate of vip numbers and its a first come first serve basis with booking of numbers.like i got my 0099 number for 25k.a decent price.0001 is for 51k.not bad either.

WOW people here actually do give a damn about VIP numbers.

Have had all my cars in VIP numbers ever since i can remember
which included my first Safari with the number plate 100 and indigo with the number plate 10

and now includes the following
Skoda Laura - 1
Optra - 2
Optra Magnum - 6390 (on my younger brothers special request which signifies his birthday 6th march 1990)

One more to come soon.

Had and have all of my car numbers as per my needs. here are a few, Lancer was 55 , ML-2255, 280CDI -8655, Caddy -3355, RR-7500 All my cars have 55 ending or just 5's there.
A couple of my friends cars M5 -666, SLK 350-7, Bmw645ci -7, S65 Amg - 7, S600 - 2, S65 Amg- 1, Toyota celica- 8888, S 320- 8888

Whats the pricing for a VIP number in Navi Mumbai RTO? Anyone?

This question is for all those people who have paid quite huge sums to get a VIP number and sold their cars. I would like to know the amount of premuim (in % terms at least) that these cars have been able to command. Also were people keen on buying the car simply because of the VIP number. Lastly was the money paid to get the no worth it?

IMO, paying good money for just some number is rubbish. People who change spellings of their names also probably get some weird numbers for their vehicles. What's the point?

Of course the RTOs have found this to be a smart source of revenue. Good for them!

Ive never had or will have a VIP number. maybe cuz im just a normal guy and not a VIP

KL-01-AX-01 number auctioned yesterday at Trivandrum RTO for 7.26 lakhs. It was for an Audi. This is the highest auction amount in Kerala for a fancy number. Around 10 people were present for the auction.

KL-01-AX-09,08,07 are for auction coming week and 50 guys already registered for these numbers.

Are keralites so much crazy about fancy numbers!!

Wasn't the AK-47 taken for a huge sum as well - It think it was a KL-07 registration (don't remember clearly..).

so the record got bettered now ,KL-01-AW-1 for a Merc S320 was auctioned for 7 lakhs

Any idea which Audi?, i think most probably it will be a Q7

KL-01-AK-47 was auctioned for 3.5 lakhs, car was a toyota camry

but the last thing i heard about the camry is its now a complete loss after it rear ended a trailer at cochin.

how do we go about obtaining vintage numbers like DLE 1 etc..

I had single number on my Hyundai Accent bought sometime in 2004.
The Number was '6' (in Chennai). I had to pay Rs.25000 for this single number and the allotment letter comes from the Transport ministry. One has to buy a car and register in this number within 3 months from the date of number allotment, otherwise you will lose the number and money.
I dont know what is present proceedure and rate to get a single number in chennai?

@nairrk - Last i heard was if the number of choice is from the current running series, its 15k. If it is a new series its 25k.

This could be wrong, as I last checked this quite a while ago.
