My fiat of '87 had the number 111 and then later on the Maruti 800 DX, Gypsy, Maruti High roof van all had 18 as their regn numbers. The current Honda Accord 3.0 has 45 and the Qualis has 54 as the regn numbers.

The Safari & the Scorpio of course have no VIP numbers but the ones allotted by the RTO at random..

And no, I didn't pay any extra amount for those numbers as that rule had not kicked in. A bit of clout worked in my favour..

1234 (twice)
6400
4321
5050
0010

After that just have had the number for my current car & paid 10k as fees to the govt for it 0010 is the number (again).

Got numbers like 20,300,600,900,1000,9000,6600,345,2200..
Paid 10K standard RTO fees for it..
Dont know why some places charge such exorbitant amounts.
Cheers

Best numbe4r we ever had was on the company lorry that wwas registered in Andhra AAA 111

It was bought in the 70s or 80s. It was scrapped a while back, but the number could not be transfered unfortunately.

Add two more zeros to that amount if you were to get that number today.

The problem in India is that you pay so much so the number and then when the car is sold the number goes with it. The reason why these arabs pay so much for their numbers is because they can transfer it over to their next cars.

my uncle had a fascination of having all the nos. of his vehicles ( he was a transport fleet owner) ending with zeros.. so we had

MHO4 C 2100, 2760,3760,2880, 2888 ( THE ODD ONE ) 5870, 6770

unfortunately all those got scrapped and sold to other states due to the Maharashtra govt. rule..

one of my frnd has many cars in his family, all his cars are numbered as 4737, around 5 of them

another of my frnd, a tempo fleet owner, has some connection with the RTO in MH 04 and MH 43 ( thane and vashi ) so all his vehicles are in good VIP ( somewhat) numbers like

100, 200, 300 and the whole series up2 1200 for the TATA 407s, then he didnt want 1300 so from 1400 to 2000 for TATA 709 EXs, all vehicles purchased in dusera-diwali period last year.

and also some of his vehicles like MH04 XX 786
and many others with 786 also.

he is a noted tempo owner in mumbai.. vt area. some folks on this forum may also know him.
