It's not Endy rather It's everest, with TDCi 2.8L 148bhp (Finally), Interiors reworked and on similar lines with Fiesta with that Round AC air blowers. Expected launch is some time end of FEB2007-first Mar2007. And they are trying to sell their old stock by calling up customers who had requested information. I get calls almost weekly once abt Endy from Cauvery ford in bangalore, "Sir we had a good offer on the Endy" why dont'n you take a test drive.
Thanks,
../Mega
Hope Ford takes up the Indian SUV-Market challenge...

It will be the Endeavour and not everest as the Everest name is already taken up by another company.
Ford had to change the name for India. The Everest in other markets is called Endeavour in India.

Ford should now introduce an upgraded Endeavour with better interiors, equipment, seating etc. & with a good engine producing atleast 150-160 bhp to make it into a sucessful product.

Yeah India & Thailand have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) which allows duty-free import of certain products including cars.
Ishaan, well i get a feeling that these car manufacturers are exploiting the indian market largely, looking at the quality of products. Interiors, trims etc are rubbish. Its like they are using up their out dated "Dye Casts" and selling these cars here in India. Toyota corollas for example is like an outdated model everywhere but in india cause it was launched here now. Why did they not launch a fresh new model here? Indian arms of these cars manufacures are acting as Hand me downs when it comes to out dated car models. thats all.

Theres a review of the VGT endevour in today's Hindu

The Hindu : Metro Plus Kochi / Wheels : Massive punch of roses

There is no mention of engine specs apart from it being a 2.5l VGT engine,so I take some figures from the the Ford site:

The 2.5-literTDCI model produces an impressive maximum torque of 330 Nm at 1,800 rpm, and 105 Kw (143 Hp) power at 3,500 rpm.The 2.5L models enjoy 22% better fuel economy.

The 4WD transmission system is equipped with the world renowned Borg Warner transfer system and electronic Active Shift-on-the-Fly, allowing a driver to shift the driving mode from 2WD to 4WD at high driving speeds of up to 100 km/h.

Source:
Ford Motor Company - Press Release - FORD UNVEILS “NEW FORD EVEREST” WITH INNOVATIVE PACKAGE OF TOUGH PERFORMANCE, SAFETY AND WORRY FREE OWNERSHIP PROMISE

Ps: Doubt the 3.0l engine would be launched here but here are the specs,
The 3.0-liter TDCi engine produces maximum torque of 380 NM at 1,800 rpm and 115 Kw (156 Hp) power at 3,200 rpm

I thought the ad in TOI yesterday was of the old model with freebies to get rid of the stock. Didn't look like the new model to me.

Here is a snap and a video of the new Ford Endeavour spotted testing outside chennai. There were 2 vehicles testing, both of the same color.

I took the snaps and the video on March 3rd but was too busy to upload them. Sorry for the delay.

P.S. The Endy driver was trying to get away but i was urging my driver to chase him much to the amusement of my FIL.

Here are the pics n video's :

The video file is large so please be patient.

My mistake acutally I wanted to ask if the the 2007 model has been launced. When I saw the ad in DC , I had a doubt.

In between the alloys looks good.
