I think it’s a launch car, because I ran the plates & I found that it’s registered under Arpanna Motors Pvt. Ltd. (Millennium Toyota)

P.S - The LS 500h looks amazing in that colour.

Saw a pricelist from Lexus recently, which included the LS500.

It's around INR 1.82Cr. ex-showroom Mumbai, getting the on-road price to INR 2.12Cr in Mumbai. This means it's pitted right up there with the S500 Maybach.
Lexus clearly has their work cut out for them, and how!

Wait until next December, they will have to once again shell out mouth water offers like they have last month. Until they make the on road price at par with the competition, they ain't going to get sales moving.

While on the Lexus topic, I am taking delivery ES today Besides a good product, the deal maker here too for me was that it came at a price at par,in fact a bit cheaper OTR compared to the competition as Lexus year-end offer covered the RTO amount of 11.5 lakhs. At 60 lakhs OTR its nearly 10-12% cheaper than the BMW 520d and Mercedes E220d after their year-end discounts

I had a peep into the LS500 today. It had come for a clean-up/check-up prior to getting into the showroom for the launch on 15th. Couldn't test drive it but sat in it to get a feel. First impressions :-

- in real life it does not look as long as it really is;
- leg space at the rear is very good;
- rear seat designed for the sahib;
- height is a little cramped especially for ingress/egress at the back - a little bit like an Audi or BMW;
- the external finish and chrome work is top class as it should be at this price point;
- the maroon interiors I saw did not appeal to my eye - other interiors available are blue-grey, tan & beige;
- Lexus have tried to up their interiors in terms of making them more contemporary (certainly a generation away from my ES300h) ;
- the front grille looks alluring & classy;
- the door insides have a textile origami design which I suspect the Japs can appreciate but I am concerned about their long lastingness with Bholuram the driver.
- the seats have a few tricks - cooling, heating massage, vibration - maybe more
- wood, leather and metal finish all outstanding

I am not commenting on the price as I could never afford an 8 digit price point. But next weekend I might go for a test drive and pose for a photo with the car so my wife has some FB bragging rights.

That's interesting, can you share more details on other models? Their sales guys at Gurgaon were adamant- Zero Discounts. If I am not mistaken, instead of selling cars at Discounts during GST switchover, Lexus got all cars lifted back from dealerships.

This was a nation wide offer for December(think they will even honour it this month). In Gurgaon they would cover the 10% road tax which would be approx 6 lakh discount. In MH the tax on CBU is 20% hence works it to approx 12 lakhs that I got off. Besides that on the car I could squeeze them for just a lakh off on the ex-showroom as cash discount.

Essentially the ex-showroom price was pretty much the OTR price as their year end offer.

Lexus has finally launched its flagship sedan in India for ₹1.77 crores. It goes against the likes of Mercedes Maybach s500, upcoming a8 etc. IMHO it's a little overpriced and that too for a V6 engine.

They seem to have 3 variants:

1. Luxury 1.77 Cr
2. Ultra luxury 1.82 Cr
3. Distinct 1.94 Cr.

Prices are ex-showroom. I don't know the variants' differences.

Pricing while better than the LX, still some 30 - 40 L high IMO.

Prices by Lexus standards competitive but about twice as expensive as 730 (After rebates considering On-Road)

Going by the pricing trend of Lexus cars in India its clearly an indication that LEXUS is not after volumes & wants its products to be rare & not sell much.

I think Lexus India will get the dubious distinction of making even Jaguar's XJL value for money.

But I still think that this car will find buyers. I've seen 2-3 Lx450d in Delhi NCR, so if that car can sell while being extremely overpriced and lacking the luxury that justifies the price tag, the ls500h looks value for money in contrast.
