Does the OHC body with the NHC heart appeal to you ?

In the NHC the only little negative point is the looks from the front. Rest the car rocks...

Sure it does. NHC has clean lines and looks lke a proper sports sedan...today all sedans are becoming tall boys.

I'll take the 1.5 Vtec engine and some new interiors.

If NHC looks like a proper sports sedan, please define a car that would be considered to be a sports sedan?

Agreed, that it has clean lines, but so does my Phillips steam iron.

Looks are really subjective, some people prefer a proper three-box shape with a slender bonnet, some prefer a minivan-like single box with a bulging behind it becoming the boot. Many a times the former type are said to be suffering from cliche's but then for them even Maserati Quattroporte would be a car thats back-dated design and not futuristic.

I did'nt know that so many here loved the NHC's looks. But then looks are subjective. Again, have to admit that the NHC ZX is a huge improvement in looks when compared to the initially launched NHC.

Well, lots has been said about its miserable rear end, which cannot be disputed. But IMO, in overall looks, the Baleno is a much better looker than the NHC. As admitted by you below,

well honda being honda did see the need to change the look and the engine.and they being a mnc with huge r&d and marketing dept would be better off judging the market.
honda saw the future and knew f.e would be a very important factor in selling cars atleast in india.
and to be honest at 9l the OHC was definitely not vfm with dull interiors.
and not to forget 80% of the people who can afford cars at a price of 6-8lacs are above 30.put in a house loan,a wife and a couple of kids and the boy racer in you does die!!!
and a lot of people have never ever in their lives redlined their car so the ohc which makes its max power at 6000rpm(im guessing here) was of no use.add to the fact the ohc vtec was jerky at crawling speeds,it wasnt exactly practical as a commuter car.
i do agree that they shouldnt have given the city a cab forward design but look at the other car companies,they are all trying to followthat design.
though it isnt relevant but bangles flame surfacing was highly criticised but now every car maker from toyota to mercedes is following it.
i would say the OHC was good for its times and introduced indians to bhp.but the game has moved on.let the nhc be as it is.
you have the civic to take its place.

BMW 3 series. The benchmark for all sports sedans. OF course, its just my opinion.

Masses=Team-Bhp.

Out of 10 OHC, I see only one or two vtec in Chennai roads. Remaining one's is either with 1.3 or 1.5. Only enthusiastic will opt for vtec pumping in that extra money.

Errrr ... I think the Baleno is a very good looking car. Ever seen its profile? Looks mean in black. Yeah. Even with those tail lamps (I like 'em). The NHC on the other hand is, well, different.

yeah, i have to admit. i have been critical of the baleno's looks, but samurai's car has changed that. it (the baleno) looks great. even the tail is good. the only bad looking thing in this car is the rear lamp assembly, looks like cheap $hit. it is so cheap that it makes the TVS bike to feel proud. why did maruti do it that bad ?? the quality of the lens alone is so bad.
