The 2nd Gen looks more like an evolution in terms of design and nothing radical. Not a bad thing, but i just hope Mahindra does not add some quirks to the design just to make a statement. The XUV500 has always been easy on the eyes, and thats probably why it has aged so well. However just more of the same would also not be a good thing since the competition landscape has changed so much now. So there has to be some element of newness in the design, which I currently do not see.

Is it just me or does the front grille design seem to be inspired from the new Thar?

It is certainly quite different from the one on the present-gen Scorpio, XUV300 and 500. And to me, it seems that the grille has grown taller and deeper while the spokes have grown thinner and more pronounced, just like in the new Thar.

Ctrl+Z, Mahindra!

Looking at the gap between grill and bonnet, looks like Mahindra is planning for a light guide like in Seltos

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

Get ready for Diwali (may be of next year's) celebrations guys with the New XUV500!
'Light ki Dukaan aa rahi hai' (Light shop is around the corner)
Looking at the recess provided on the front facia gives us the clue that something big is coming.
Also, we all know very well how Mahindra loves to go overboard with some design elements.
They've done it with XUV 300 DRLs and now they'll enhance (!) it with it's upcoming bigger sibling.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

The prototype seems to be riding really low compared to the current XUV500. Could it be because it is overloaded for the test?
Or is it the new design specification?

Scoop! Mahindra XUV500 with production-spec tail lamps spied

New spy images of the second generation Mahindra XUV500 have partially revealed the car's production-spec tail lamp clusters.

The XUV500 test mules that we have seen until now have had dummy tail lights. However, this test mule appears to be in a much latter pre-production stage.

The spy images indicate that the new XUV500 could get horizontal or L-shaped tail lamp clusters. The car also has a pair of reflectors mounted on the rear bumper.

One of the key highlights of the next generation XUV500 will be its door handles. The SUV gets flush-fitting door handles, which can be seen in these images. Note how the door handle on the driver's door has popped out.

Last week, another XUV500 test mule was spotted with a production-spec grille. However, that car too was fitted with dummy headlights and tail lights.

Reports suggest that the new model could be sold alongside the current generation XUV500. It could be offered with a 2.0-litre mStallion T-GDi turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 187 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 380 Nm at 1,750-4,000 rpm as well as a 2.0-litre diesel unit.

Thanks to Vinod Moorthy for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

The new Thar is right behind it. It would have been interesting to compare the height of the new Thar with the upcoming xuv500.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

Looks from the spy shots that it has lost the prominent wheel arches and that strong beltline.

While it wasn't to everyone's taste — I personally found it gaudy/chintzy — it did lend a strong muscular character to the car. The new one seems too sophisticated for the audience that earlier loved it.

Anyway, we've only seen highly clad pics of it yet. Hope the final product is awesome and gives Indian consumers yet another great choice in this competitive segment.

Looks good, I must say! With the design overall being well proportioned and much-better balanced than the Gravitas. Liking the wheel design too and the tail-lamps look like they'll be somewhat similar to that of the Harrier.

As can be seen from the pics beside the Marazzo posted by Volkman10, the height appears to be atleast at the same level as the current gen. For instance, the Marazzo measures at 1774mm, while current gen XUV500 comes in at 1790 mm. In the above pic, it appears slightly taller than Marazzo, therefore, probably the same height.

In some earlier spy pics, it was spotted beside a TUV300(1830mm). There too it appeared nearly as tall as it.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

Ah, finally seeing some production spec lights. Got this as a WhatsApp fwd today, looks like its a full LED setup up front. Unsure about the fogs though.

I quite liked the alloy design. They look LARGE (any idea on the size? 18/19?), have a simple design - very Mercedes GL-esque.
Love those pop-out door handles - hope Mahindra does enough testing on that additional moving part.
Any idea if there's a panaromic sunroof to be seen?
There is zero rear bumper lip, a small one would've helped, imo.

The front facial looks imposing but not in your-face imposing.
The wheel design looks upmarket and if Mahindra can put it together the way they assemble the Alturas, the medium-sized SUV segment should have another strong contender.

I am quite excited to see what kit Mahindra provides for the XUV since they pleasantly surprised everyone with the new Thar!

Thankfully there is no LED light guide over the grill! Looks pretty premium and upmarket, alloy wheel also look very stylish. With the Thar Mahindra got the required attention but that will not be the volume mover, it is the XUV500 that needs the best of equipment at the right prices if they want volume like the first gen had generated at the time of launch.

With these new generation updates of the Thar, XUV500 and Scorpio Mahindra can get back the lost ground which they have lost to Kia and Tata, like I have said previously 2021 is going to be Mahindra's year!

I would wait until they unveil all the chrome in the car to make that statement. An all black edition would surely be imposing enough!
