Thanks Aditya for the report,
Here are some perspective to the Nov sales:
For the auto industry November, post the festive season plunges back to being negative with majority of manufacturers in a negative trend.
Industry firmly believe the revival path will only be seen in next fiscal and that too in early 2021.
Star performers of the Month:
- KIA SELTOS
- Maruti Suzuki S Presso
- MG Hector
- Renault Triber
Maruti Suzuki: Having recorded a growth in October MS, the car maker is back in the negative trend with minus 3.3% sales Y-O-Y. However the month-on-month growth is only 12 units if you compare November 2019's 139,133 units to the 139,121 units of October 2019.
Though it moves in the negative trend its market share is +50% (now @52.9%, losing 1.4%
Highlights: S Presso moves up in sales, Ertiga twins does well taking the MUV segment to a 15% growth, Vitara Brezza holds up as the segment leader inspire of an absence of a petrol variant. Baleno+ Glanza added would be the best seller for Nov-19.
Hyundai: Hyundai is one of the automakers to have recorded a positive y-o-y growth, but down 11 percent on October 2019's 50,010 units.
Though it post a +ve growth, Hyundai Market share gain was only 0.4%
Highlights: Hyundai had 2 offerings in the Top 10 (i20 & i10). Creta meets its match in Kia Seltos, now shows a negative growth of 31% (Y-O-Y). Hyundai Santro is the latest dud from the group.
Kia Seltos is selling almost twice that of Creta numbers.
Mahindra: Has a lot to worry. The Utility vehicle manufacturer, with dispatches of 14,637 units, saw sales decline 9.58% YoY (November 2018: 16,191). But compared to October 2019's 18,444 units, November 2019 numbers are down 21% month on month.
Losing edge in the UVs race, M&M has something radical to do to gain traction. The competent Marazzo sales are dropping each month post Ertiga launch. XUV300 too is treading a negative path, will the BS6 variant that is launched help to arrest the negative trend?
KIA: Close on the heels of Mahindra the one product KIA Motors does well and could land up in the 3rd Spot in coming months. Can KIA hold on to this with Seltos ? Only time will tell when the BSVI story unveils.
It crossed 5% Market Share in Nov’19 and sold higher than the likes of Renault, Toyota, Tata & Honda!
TATA Motors: Sold a total of 10,400 units in November 2019, down a sizeable 38.75% YoY (. Compared to October 2019's 13,290 units, sales last month are down 22%. Can it perform better with a slew of new launches announced?
Highlights: Nexon is now the 3rd best seller in its segment, beats Ford’s EcoSport. But fall short in other segments. Hexa and Harier doing 3 digit sale numbers. Will need to see how Altoz will contribute to the overall sales numbers?
Toyota: Glanza the re-badged Baleno becomes their second best seller. Innova volumes fall due to Eriga twins. For Fortuner, it is business as usual. The Luxury MPV shows dispatches to dealers. Interesting to see how the re-badged cars from Maruti would contribute to Toyota’s sales, going forward.
Volkswagen: Nothing great for them, but amazing to see how Polo is still doing great numbers much ahead of JAZZ, FIGO and the rest. Hope VW reconsiders its decision on not bringing the next Gen. Polo
The Best in the Segments: Entry Level : Alto leads the pack, but the new kid S Presso is catching up. Would it topple the Alto in early 2020?
Compact Hatchback: Swift does the honors and is now the largest selling car in November.
Premium Hatch: Baleno + Glanza, together would have been the largest selling car in Nov. Consistent performer from Maruti, thus the star form NEXA.
Compact Sedan: Will there ever be a match to the Dzire? See the numbers of the second spot.
Sedan: The most diminishing segment in which the best seller for Nov. is from Hyundai. a very closely fought segment.
Compact SUV: Once shaken by Hyundai Venue, but now in last 3 consecutive months the 'only-diesel' Brezza is on top.
SUV: The Creta challenger takes little time to dethrone the leader. Now does twice the volumes of Hyundai's Creta.
Multi Utility Vehicle: Dominated by the Ertiga twins, the most affected is Mahindra Marazzo. Toyota volumes too drops and is below 5k now
Executive Sedan: The only segment that is dominated by Honda. Civic does well consistently and is now the leader in this segment.
Luxury sedan: Skoda Superb dominates this segment with no formidable competitor at sight.
Luxury SUV: Undisputed Fortuner rules the segment, but interesting to see Ford Endeavour increasing its market share.
