2020 Ford EcoSport BSVI lineup is offered with 3-year or 100,000 KM factory warranty as standard. Ford says it’s been able to absorb a large part of investments made to upgrade its engines for emission norms compliancy. Ford highlights its longer service intervals of 10,000 kms, and says Ford EcoSport owners spend as little as Rs 1,400 for scheduled service in the first year. It’s 1,00,000 km or 10-year service cost works out to Rs 4,700.

A big thank you to the Moderators for accepting my membership. Have been a mute admirer of Team-bhp for so many years.

Contrary to the speculations. The price difference seems to be marginal for the BS6, variants. Especially the Diesel variants.

With all the rumors of facelift Nexon diesel getting pricier by 1.40 lacs this is a very pleasant surprise.

It's a shame that sync 3 still remains elusive in the lower trims.

Also, the torque for diesel seems to have increased from 205nm to 215nm like in Aspire and Figo.

Whatever happened to all the noise of 1.5L more to make diesels compliant (to be fair, didn't hear it from ford) !

Either Ford is being extremely savvy to take the market when others are expected to make huge hikes or discontinue diesels completely, or the entire messaging was just hype by the industry to get a few more months/years to sell BS4.

And then we have other manufacturers claiming that the price increase for a 1.5L diesel engine would be in the range of INR 1L-2L.

Kudos to Ford for bringing BS-6 engines(especially diesel) at a very reasonable rate.

P.S. This also confirms the continuation of the S variant in the Ecosport petrol line-up. Only the engine changes from the Ecoboost to the Dragon.

Totally agree. Time for Maruti Suzuki to rethink their strategy. I think their announcement regarding Diesel engines was premature.

How is this possible for Ford?:Shockked:

Just a marginal hike for BS6 diesel? Others are saying the difference will be lakhs! Or is their BS4 diesel already priced in the exorbitant levels?

The price difference especially for the Diesel version is nothing short of a shocker in every single aspect. Where have all manufacturers gone who were claiming couple of months ago that the price difference in Diesel will be more than a lakh or couple of lakhs more.
After this shocking price declaration, it remains to be seen how others especially Hyundai Venue and other small SUVs respond with price. If this trend continues, there may not be much difference between petrol and Diesel version of Venue.
Now it seems Maruti has been completely caught off the guard with most likely only a petrol version of Brezza.

What approach has Ford followed to make the diesel BS6 compliant? Are they using exhaust additives like Adblue, or this their system based on automatic regeneration like the Kia Seltos, requiring periodic running at high engine speeds?

It would be interesting to know what they did to make the diesel compliant.
It is an old school engine developed through Peugeot -Citroen and was the downsized version of a 1.6.

With not much costs passed onto to the customer, either Ford is trying one last time for better sales or the actual mods to the engine is that minimal.

Appreciations to Ford for keeping the price hike minimal.

Ecosport is already selling at a premium, they took it as an opportunity to make the prices competitive as the segment is heating up with every new launch. Ecosport in general is priced at a premium over the competition, they made corrections in the past whenever they felt the need like when Brezza was launched etc.(The Brezza effect: Ford reduces EcoSport price by up to 1.12 lakhs). This is another such move by Ford.

Coming to the Nexon BS6 price hike, unlike Ecosport, Nexon is the most VFM(or say affordable or least priced) offering in the segment. Tata thought of using the BS6 conversion as an opportunity to increase the prices to the competitor level so as to enjoy similar margins as the competitors, and also Nexon's BS6 facelift comes with significant feature additions whereas Ecosport doesn't come with any significant feature additions. So, despite significant feature additions, and 5-star rating, without any major reliability issues, still aren't they allowed to match their asking price upto to competitor levels just because it is a Tata? Anyhow Tata is yet to announce the BS6 model prices, and with this move by Ford they got little room to play.

Got to agree with that.

that's sweet!

Only marginal increase in prices. Now need to check which all features they have deleted lol:

I think they have added the cruise control back in Titanium+AT. But sync3, Ford emergency assistance, mykey etc are still only there in the S variant.

Can't believe that they still don't realize the potential of having the only 6 airbags (with electronic safety aids) real automatic CSUV in the market.

Guys this may be a little off-topic but if someone could help me out. I have never looked into the Bharat Stage stuff.
This BS6 vs BS4, what exactly are the differences? is it just lower carbon emissions? or can we expect better fuel economy as well?

Thank you.

GREAT NEWS GREAT NEWS :D

Actually i am much much more happy over this engine being made bs6 compliant than ecosport getting bs6 version.

This means the 1.5 tdci will not die as many feared, it was especially a beast in cars like the aspire and i was disappointed that we will have to bid farewell to it.

This also means ford is keeping it's promise that it's cars like aspire, figo, freestyle etc. will be made bs6 complaint and we can safely assume aspire and the lot will receive the update soon enough.

My close friend is contemplating the aspire but was unsure about bs6, now i can coerce him to wait instead of pushing him to make a leap of faith.
