Re: Kia @ Auto Expo 2020

Very well-thought line-up on display from Kia. The homework and effort to capture the market is so evident. There is an air of freshness and the models on display are all ready to hit the roads. They are definitely going to make the competition work hard and stay relevant.

Re: Kia @ Auto Expo 2020

Hope that they offer the Niro EV in India this year and with the 64kwh battery pack itself. Let the cost be high, there are consumers for a high range EV and would be willing to pay a premium for it.

Re: Kia @ Auto Expo 2020

Its so sad seeing most of the cars on display by Kia and most other manufacturers are all wannabe SUVs which are basically hatchbacks on steroids. Where are all the fun to drive hatcbacks and sedans? or the proper SUVs that can actually go offroad.

Totally agree. In fact they are just hatchbacks on stilts, not even steroids. Low profile tyres, plastic cladding and underbody panels, no 4x4, heck not even AWD. Puny petrol engines that have no low end torque.

I wonder if we will ever get proper compact SUV that are the real deal.

Kia showcases Kona rivaling long range e-Niro at Auto Expo 2020

Quote:
The Kia e-Niro EV is being displayed at Auto Expo 2020 in the long-range version. It's a Hyundai Kona Electric rival globally and one of the three models under the Kia Niro series of eco-friendly SUVs.

The Kia e-Niro has the same sleek and curvy silhouette as the Kia Niro Hybrid and Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid but comes with its own set of subtle design alterations to boast its cleaner powertrain. The Kia e-Niro comes with a closed Tiger-nose front grille which hides the charging port behind it, along with redesigned daytime running LED lights with blue highlights in the front bumper, exclusive 17-inch aerodynamically enhanced alloy wheels and blue highlights.

On the inside, while the overall design is the same, there are subtle alterations here as well. Things like blue accents for the AC vents, rotator dial drive selector and blue trim in the leather seat upholstery. The Kia e-Niro packs features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient mood lighting, leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charger, electric parking brake, heated and ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel.

The Kia e-Niro will not be launched in India anytime soon and has been put on display here to just demonstrate the company's EV technology. The Kia Seltos EV (codename: Kia SP2 EV) will likely use the same powertrain as the Kia Niro EV long-range
The long-range version of the Kia e-Niro EV uses a 64 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack and a single electric motor that generates 136 kW (204 PS) and 395 Nm of torque. This electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 167 km/h. The energy consumption rating is 15.9 kWh/100 km and the maximum driving range which can be extracted from the battery pack is 455 km.

Re: Kia showcases Kona rivaling long range e-Niro at Auto Expo 2020

This is one of the most energy efficient EVs on the planet today. It consumes 16kwh to go a 100km. Gives you a fair idea of the kind of range we can expect from EVs from other makes with 30-35kwh batteries - 200km at best.

That's exactly what's going to happen. Kia just showing the E-Niro as that's what is available today, but they will not release it in Indian market.

E-Seltos is rumored to be released in South Korea this year and India may get it next year.

This was the car that caught my attention in this year auto expo. I asked around if this one is going to make into production and if the changes are only cosmetic.

The response I got was that this will indeed make into production and this is the off-roader version of the Seltos. But nothing yet is decided on the mechanicals of the car. Launch would likely to take place next year.

Re: Kia @ Auto Expo 2020

Good show Kia! They are here to stay & grow, confirmed. Kia is going to be biggest threat for companies like Honda, Toyota, Ford, Renault & to some extent to Hyundai as well. It will not impact Maruti in near term at least and Tata, Mahindra will also not suffer much as they have their own customers.
