Those exact Kia Niro and Soul EVs are in India for more than a year. They were shown to local media and especially in Andhra Pradesh many times. Sadly, there is not much EV related news from Kia and Hyundai in the auto expo.

This is a manufacturer that has the capability to beat some of the market leaders in India like Maruti & Toyota. Looks like they've studied the current market trends thoroughly. Launching the first vehicle(Seltos) as an suv, which is where the current market is leaning. What's better than a trendy product to build your presence in some place unknown. Next up the Carnival, the Innova Crysta really needs a competitor as it doesn't yet have one in its class.

And then the Sonet Concept. Which I think will go head-to-head against the Vitara Breeza and gang. Mind you, this segment is said to get almost doubled in the next few years.

The Stonic is gorgeous. Hopefully they don't change too much from concept to production.

Good second year at the expo from Kia.

From just having only a solid concept last year to hitting a home run in the market with their first product (Seltos), a premium launch at the expo (Grand Carnival) and one more promising volumes launch coming up this year (Sonet).

Sonet looks better than it's counterpart - the Hyundai Venue. Should be a competent package if it comes with the 1.0 TGDi and the 1.5 BS6 diesel.

Hyundai needs to be afraid of it's sibling. Very!

True that. In India, Skoda has done better than parent VW, Renault is doing better than parent Nissan and now Kia may outperform Hyundai. Pupils are indeed outdoing masters.

I liked the way Kia is focused on showing what may come in. No Stinger GT or Mohave. Just what they intend to get here.
As I said before, they are supremely prepared and extremely focused.

If the specs shown of Niro are of the 64kWh variant. Kona also has a 64kwh variant in international markets but they decided to get only the 39kwh version in India. If Kia gets this 64kwh version, then it'll be a wonderful move. Price will be too high though. but with 39kwh for Soul and 64kwh Niro, it will have 2 cars in 2 range capacities. In international markets, the Niro is heavier, costlier, slower and has less range all by a small margin. Will be interesting how they price it, if at all they get it here. I feel it's the perfect time to get them here.
But I didn't like the blue mirrors on both cars and the soul looks on the whole.

The Sonet is bound to be a runaway success. Important for the Indian market was to get traction with their first product, and Kia has made a killing of that with the Seltos. Now that the consumer mindset is already conditioned towards Kia as a good brand, the Sonet should have no problems in selling in good numbers, possibly even more than the Seltos is. Looks far better than the wierd looking Venue, for sure.
