New vehicle registrations down by 88.87% in May 2020

According to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), vehicle registrations declined by 88.87% due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown in the month of May 2020. Overall sales stood at 2,02,697 units, compared to 18,21,650 units in May 2019.

Hyundai Santro, after getting out ~3800+ units for Jan-Feb and another 2000+ for March has a steep fall to mere 157 units ! Did they increase the price for BS6 a bit too much ? Curious to know what happened , esp since the other cars in it segment didn’t experience such a sharp fall !

I think we should not read too much into sales figures of May '20 as most of the OEMs and dealers across the country were not working till May 3rd week.
