So my friend did have a test drive of the M340i and felt that it was a good car indeed but wouldn't consider it as an upgrade from his current F30 330i from his perspective and priorities.

I can see a world of difference in BMW India's approach to the M340i vs. the 330i. They wouldn't even have a TD car back in Chennai in 2016/2018 and now they are quite aggressively pushing the M340i. Good on BMW.

Congratulations to the folks who have booked the M340i.

Congratulations Karan561! The gorgeous interior photos from your 3 series acquisition thread are still fresh in my memory - I think that was one of the very early ownership threads here and enjoyed following the updates. Looking forward to the ownership report :-)

Strange, I just called up Bengaluru dealer and the answer is that they are expecting 340i this year 😳. And they have no confirmation on March 10 or launch or test drives - pretty puzzled. Anyone got better info in Bengaluru?

Very normal with both the BLR dealers who feign ignorance till the last minute. You're far better off with TBHP.

Yes, the F30 was launched around July end 2012 & I had taken delivery of my 328i on 21st Aug. A very unique delivery experience that was for me (Kochi to DNH to Mumbai)

Re: BMW M340i X Drive coming to India in 2021

I called Bird auto in Gurgaon for TD. The SA said that the cars did arrive at the showroom but he is not aware when to start the TD.

By the way any idea what is the service cost of This M performance car vis-a-vis a normal 3 series ? Do these (M Performance ) cars require more frequent service or part replacement and does the part cost much more than normal 3 series cars ?

You can look at BSI values for 740 or an X5-40i which both have similar 6 cylinder engines. I believe BSI packs for 340i will be around the same ballpark, perhaps on a little lower side.

Regarding regular maintenance, you may end up getting brakes/ rotors used more frequently if driven hard. The cost of other parts will depend if these are the same as regular 4 cylinder-like body parts and some other drivetrain related. But usually, if you have bought BRI and BSI, you are adequately covered.

The M2 has a very reasonable maintenance package outlay. I think the M340i has to be lower than full blown M Cars. Either ways the costs seem reasonable. Attaching the pdf.

Thanks a lot. Can you please clarify for me to understand it

1. One can go for either service inclusive or service inclusive plus . They are service package with difference scope - Say Cost is A

2. Then one can buy (on top of either of the two service package) repair inclusive (which is basically warranty extension) -Say Cost is
B

so total cost will be A+B - Is this correct ?

3. Can someone buy only warranty extension ? Because the cost of warranty extension is very cheap here. INR 61,006 for 3 years
? Last year I bought 3 years warranty extension for my Volvo S 90 and it cost me 1.65 lakhs . Am I missing something here ?

Appreciate help on this.
regards

Re: BMW M340i X Drive coming to India in 2021

Short answer is yes.

There is no link between BSI/BSI+ & BRI. The latter can be bought anytime as long as it is within the standard warranty period of 2 years.

BRI - extended warranty can only be bought if vehicle is under warranty. I hope you understand that 3 years that you have mentioned is basically One extra year over standard 2 years that comes with car.

BSI- 2 types depending on your usage. If you can carefully check the job card and take a call to carry out only required works, it can be skipped. But, always have a German car under warranty.

For BRI, say I estimated a low 12K km annual usage but find that actual usage will be more OR I want to upgrade from the 3 year scheme direct to the 6 year one. Similarly for BSI, I start off with a vanilla BSI package but then want to change to a BSI+ scheme.

Have always wanted to ask but never got around to it.

Yes. You can pay the difference and get the higher pack. And the best thing that impressed me the most is that BMW will consider today’s price of your existing package and ask difference based on that and not what you originally paid (usually less than present)
