Given that its a smaller engine and less than 4000mm, it should be priced very competitively.
Exactly, this is a well-rounded product in that crowded sub-4m SUV space. Looks good, has proven mechanicals, has features that one expects in that segment. If I were in the market for a premium hatchback or a compact SUV, this would be among the top contenders on that list.

But I still cannot digest that name though

Re: Maruti planning new crossover based on the Baleno. EDIT: Launches "FRONX"!

I find this to be a really sensible car with a ridiculous name. The 'Fronte' instead of the 'Fronx' would have made it even more appealing.

Bookings have opened and NEXA is accepting bookings for 11k. We were on the lookout and have booked an Alpha 1.0 AT in Dual Tone. We were told that it's likely that cars may be available for preview in February.

There is no word on the pricing yet but I am hoping to stick with the booking if it lands under 15L OTR Chennai.

Re: Maruti planning new crossover based on the Baleno. EDIT: Launches "FRONX"!

Lot of people here seem to be wondering about the name "Fronx".

I felt it is supposed to mean "Front wheel drive Xover" (crossover) as against the 4x4 SUV (Jimny) which was being developed simultaneously.

My 2 cents

They could have named this F-Cross instead of Fronx if it had to be connected to Crossover (Xover). People can atleast relate it to erstwhile S-Cross.

Name aside, it seems to be a good product with turbo engine and TC auto box. If priced well, it can dent the sales of Sonet and Venue

'X' has always stood for 'Cross'overs (monocoque) in car nomenclature, BMW X series, XUV series, Hyundai iX25 (named as Creta in India), NeXon, and Suzuki's own SX4 and CelerioX to name a few. With reference to S-Cross, when Suzuki decided to launch the next generation SX4 in India, they decided to drop the '4' from SX4 (as it was a dud in the Indian market). Hence they had to expand the name alphabetically, as otherwise just an "SX" would have looked like a variant badge and not the actual name of the car.

S-Cross itself was a front wheel drive vehicle. So the nomenclature will not be correct if another front wheel drive crossover is named F-cross.

I guess we are giving too much importance to the name. Like they say "Whats in a name? A rose by any name would smell as sweet".

My suggestion is to just debadge and enjoy the car!!

What would be the expected mileage of 1.0 with AT?
