Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

After looking at the photos of the car being spotted on the road, I can't stop thinking about the difference in stance between the official image and the car in real life!

Has VW tweaked the image to make the car look more appealing?

After a close look the biggest difference is the ground clearance. The image has a European car stance while the actual car has the compromise Indian raised suspension for our roads. That and seemingly smoked tail lights vis a vis red lit tail lights.

Of course the red colour with black alloys also looks absolutely hot in comparison to the bland white and standard alloys. So yes, has to be a combination of different colour + some image trickery.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

It's due to the raised suspension making it look like its on stilts. Looks like a lowering kit will be on the cards for many mod inclined buyers.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

The image owes a lot to studio lighting and probably to photoshop too. It is totally meant for marketing! But, apart from details like road clearance, wheels, etc, I doubt that they would change essential design.

Not that I trust marketing departments, even in countries with more effective consumer-protection law than ours!

Instead of making a sedan on stilt, they should have gone for station wagon version with high GC. It looks very odd in sedan form.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

Well, this is probably close to being unethical IMO. This image made me fall in love with the VW more than the Skoda's version, BUT now spy images tell a different story. Imagine if I was a potential buyer who booked the car just by looking at the official photos.

There is definitely a much larger gap between body and wheel in real life, compared to image shown in promo material. It would be interesting to see how this plays out.

Or has VW given GT trim a lowered stance while others get the tall stance? That image of red car is GT trim if I am not wrong.

White one is a GT trim too, has the black bits covered for some reason. You can see the spoiler I'd you look closely. Black alloys too can be seen.

Oh okay. Pretty hard to see that the alloys are black and I didn't even notice the spoiler either. Interesting. I hope they do it right by the time deliveries start.

That Chrome strip looks odd honestly. Wonder how it'll look in the real world.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

The chrome design element on the rear bumper has uncanny resemblance to the one in Kia Carens! It certainly looks a bit overdone in the Carens, whereas going by the pics, it looks better integrated in the Virtus.

Absolutely!! Look at wheel well space between two and you would see the difference. They have cleverly (?) modified the image to make it look swell but in reality the stance is awkward. I just hope they would come up with lowering kits for people who dont want SUVish sedan.

Would lowering the suspension void the warranty?

Suspension warranty would void no doubt. But if the kit is made available by VW itself, we are sorted.
