Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

It’s been a never ending debate. This company has dragged the polo for so long in this country that the name has become synonymous with a bored, tired, old, outdated automobile. Even if they actually launch an all NEW version people’s memory will remain that of an old outdated automobile. So in way they have themselves killed the brand. A polo in any avatar may be a great drivers car, safety and all that, but it won’t sell. So the NEW polo actually may never come.
So it’s only pseudo SUV’s for India in the low price range.

Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

How about VW bringing the updated Polo here now & selling it alongside the existing one!
May be limit the quantity & see the response but at least give people an option to choose.

Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

This thread is based on speculation.

The next gen Polo will debut not earlier than 2023, could be in an ONLY EV form.

Currently Gen Polo( 2017) will have a face-lift coming up shortly before the next gen debuts a year or two, and it will make ZERO business case to bring this here.

There are umpteen options to soup up the Polo.
Thanks Gannu. The Vento units cost a bomb. Also - would these need a BCM update and is there a chance of any warranty voiding (I suppose not as they would be plug/play types)
I am thinking of DRLs that are directly powered by the battery and use a voltage sensor for turn on.[does vw have a problem with this ?[battery warranty]]

Hey! Are you calling my wonderful car bored, tired, old, and outdated?

Of course... you are right. Sad failure by VW.

Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

All this delay because they will have to chop the car to bring it under 4 metres.

I just can't express my rage in words towards our government's stupid stupid policies and taxation brackets. We are missing out on some really great products that are being sold overseas (which can just be sold as-is without any modifications for India) not just in terms of physical dimensions, but also in terms of engine displacement.

On the other hand, I just hope VW doesn't pull off another Honda here. Honda has also been "mulling" over bringing the HR-V to our shores since last 3-4 years but they haven't managed to do anything apart from mulling, of course.

VW's Polo 's replacement is likely to be the I.D 2 in global markets. Gets an SUV-ish stance. Coming in 2023.

Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

Just came across this New Polo (EU) on Autogefuehl, one of my most favorite car review channels. If the Polo getting unveiled here looks like this, we're in for a treat. Not that I'm gonna run to the dealer and book one, but at least gives me a good feeling that VW/Skoda have woken up from their slumber and taking our market seriously instead of feeding us with outdated stuff.

Check out the video:

Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

As stated, VW has no plans of getting the MK6 Polo to India:

Currently, VW doesn’t have any plans to launch the refreshed model in the Indian market.

ACI's speculation:
Quote:
the new hatch is only likely to arrive in a few years, as VW is currently focusing on its SUVW strategy in India before looking to bring other products. This could mean that the Polo may witness a generation jump for India, with VW only the bringing the seventh-gen Polo to our market.

Re: Rumour: VW considering the next-gen Polo for India

So is the 6th gen Polo coming to India or not? Confused if one should go for the existing one or wait?

I don't think its coming to India. Not atleast till 2023. The 6th gen was launched globally in 2017. And the 7th gen will be due in 2024-25. There's no point in introducing an about to be discontinued model here. Most probably, the 6th gen will be skipped altogether in India and might see the 7th gen based on the indianized MQB-A0-IN platform. But based on their priorities now being SUV's, don't expect that to happen before 2024.

Mr Boparai, Managing Director of Skoda VW India had made it very clear earlier this year.

If this sub 4-meter rule goes away, we will definitely look at hatchbacks again

“If this sub 4-meter rule goes away..."

Any chance? Rules are easy to make and hard to get rid of .

Thanks. I have been thinking of picking up the current Polo in Matt grey. If the new car won't come soon, I think it is a car to buy. The other current crop of cars don't excite me.
