Re: Rumour: Skoda Kodiaq to get 1.5L petrol engine option

Can't wait for this beauty to hit the showrooms, but digesting that it will be priced around the 38-40L zone is difficult!

The auto industry may not be growing significantly YoY, but it's value surely is!

OT: From the tweets now we know Zac is only human and uses an iPad

Re: Rumour: Skoda Kodiaq to get 1.5L petrol engine option

Based on the recent car launch prices in 2021, it looks like customers should be ready to pay ˜50+ lakh OTR for Kodiak L&K. I hope my assumption will be wrong.

Considering that the Tiguan Allspace and Kodiaq are identical, there should not be considerable price differential between the two. Kodiaq being locally assembled should have even lower price tag.

BS6 Skoda Kodiaq facelift to be launched by the end of 2021

Looks like the new facelifted Kodiaq will be a Q4 Nov/Dec '21 Launch in India.

I believe the Kodiaq will be slightly higher priced as Skoda is keen on marketing the new Kodiaq as a premium luxury SUV. It might be competing with the likes of BMW X3, to-be-launched Audi Q5, Merc GLC, Volvo XC60, etc.
I don't think that Skoda would be interested in marketing the new Kodiaq as a direct competitor to the Endeavor and Fortuner.
Hence, we might see the prices in the range of 43-45L OTR, if not more!

re: Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TSI Facelift to be launched by the end of 2021

Kodiaq is and will always be a great car in the Skoda’s stable. I have always liked the car and I always have believed that it is better than the two obvious competitors it has which everyone is buying. Increasing the price so that it can compete with X3 and XC60 will obviously decrease it sales. It is a premium SUV but increasing its cost just to compete with the big german brands won’t make it more premium. Considering how the prices of its competitors which are the fortuner and endeavor have also been increased I would like to see how they price it now. If they price it above 50 lakhs then Skoda will really ruin their game.

This is only a facelift and not all new version. With an Petrol engine under the hood, should be less than 45 OTR. The GLC, X3 are 70+ in Bangalore and I do not think Skoda will be competing with them.

Seeing the news header, I keenly jumped in just to see if the 2.0 TDI is making a comeback but only to be disappointed. What stops Skoda from making it BS6 compliant. It's quite sad the masters of diesel engine doesn't have one in their India offerings.

Miscalculated move which will cost them big sales. Even Maruti is almost ready with its BS6 1.5L diesel and it's currently undergoing serious tests. Better late (Maruti) than never (VW-Skoda).

If there is demand for a certain product - and diesels surely have good demand today - it is a seriously DUMB strategic error to not offer it. VAG's 1.5L & 2.0L TDIs were so damn good, but they don't want to commit to the cost, especially with the even more stringent emission norms coming up in 2023.

Not having a diesel means the Kushaq, Octavia, Superb & Kodiaq will only see 40 - 50% of their sales potential. 60% of Creta owners choose the diesel, whereas in big SUVs, diesel is the preferred choice by a mile.

On a lighter note, good to see Zac as a very candid spokesperson . It's almost like he is head of corporate communications, not sales / marketing.

This is a serious miscalculation on the VAG group's part in India. 1) Remove your ultra efficient Diesels from the market and immediately followed by 2) Overprice your fun but inefficient Petrols.

They actively minimise their customer base with this strategy. Even as a customer shopping in the 30 Lakhs+ market, this inefficiency seriously riles the middle class Indian mentality i was raised with.

Zac has been citing the phase II of the BS6 norms which is going to kick in and this according to him would make it difficult to comply (or makes them exorbitant). But since the Europe market is still diesel driven and they do cater to the diesel market, is it so difficult to tweak the Euro6 engines to meet the Phase II norms? If that is the case, even other car makers are going to suffer.

Hope they dont do the 50L+ OTR pricing like folks claim and price it aggressively.

Trivia: The car is named after the Kodiak Alaskan bear. Amazing naming I feel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodiak_bear

Re: Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TSI Facelift to be launched by the end of 2021

I don't understand why this talk on OTR price should be 45L.
Old diesel kodiaq (style) was ~42L on road even in Bangalore. They used to give good discounts too..
New one is petrol and sales would dip by a projected 40% at the least
Tiguan was given solid discounts even after it being CBU and kodiaq is CKD

So shouldn't they keep OTR at around 40L for style level version!!!!
