Not at all IMHO!

At 11.15 lakhs for the Amaze diesel CVT - the Kia Sonet HTX Diesel AT is a no-brainer and offers a LOT more at just 11.29 lakhs.

The advantages include -
  • +35 ps of power
  • + 73 Nm of torque
  • Proper 6 speed torque converter AT
  • Paddle shifter
  • Cruise control
  • ESC, HAC, VSM
  • Sunroof
  • Push Button start
  • Wireless Android Auto and Carplay

You are right . Nevertheless they both are way costly for what they offer .

Some would prefer the Amaze's ride quality to Sonet's though.

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

Leave alone the other manufacturers, for Amaze itself, the diesel base variant is 2.35 lakhs costlier than the petrol base variant!

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

We have an Amaze diesel base. It was the best car to buy sub-7 lakh when it was launched. Whatever they are offering now is way off the competition. Honda management team seriously needs some whip. They can justify input cost, focus on petrol bla bla, but ultimately they should accept, their team failed at making the right diesel car for the market. Petrol variants still seem to make sense.

Or are they very clever? Are they over pricing diesel so that petrol makes more sense? God knows but I will never buy Amaze diesel even if I had all the money in the world.

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

Diesel variants pricing is outright atrocious.
Amaze even with all the bells and whistles is simply not worth 10 lakhs plus ex-showroom for any variant.
Amaze is full of compromises be it interior space or boot space or materials used. I brought my City VMT Diesel (6 gears) around 10.80 Lakhs ex showroom in 2015.
The variant V was just one variant below the top variant VX. The base variant SV diesel was starting around 8 lakhs only.
Now Amaze is commanding the similar prices.

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

Finally they have put in a new grill at the front. They older one looked like a old man with out teeth. Amaze is still the best choice for people wanting a entry level sedan and don’t want a Maruti.

Latest Amaze ad is really bad! Forget 90's vibe, I wonder what is their target geography for the latest Amaze

Is that grey shade new?

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

Probable reason for the higher prices for Diesel is, because of its All Aluminium Construction.

Hyundai (1.2 and 1.5) Kia (1.5) and Tata's (1.5) Diesel uses cast iron black.

Still very hard to justify these prices.

For reference, other Manufacturers who uses All Aluminium Diesel Hyundai's (2 Litre) Kia (2.2Litre) and Mercedes (2 Litre and 3 Litre)

The car is old, the engines are older, and the advert is straight out of the book of ancient civilisations.

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

I own Amaze Petrol (s) since May 2015. Honda is known for its fabulous petrol engines but sadly the weakest link in the entire package is its petrol engine itself. It lacks low end grunt. Especially on hills, you really have to spin the motor and slip the clutch on inclines. The engine fails to exhibit any vtec laurels. Amaze deserves a better engine for sure. My 1st gen Santro was more drivable in Uttarakhand hills than Amaze.

In comparison Maruti and Hyundai 1.2 litre petrol engines are better.

Other sore points:
1. No adjustable head rests in rear seat
2. Need to unscrew spare wheel every-time for filling air. A big nuisance.
3. Glove box is a pain. Rattles & does not close properly. Using some sponge and tape. Hope it is fixed now.

The car does not give a solid feeling that it will last for years. The metal sheet is quite thin. Guess it is same with most of the cars now a days (lighter cars are more fuel efficient).

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

Amaze has been an Amazing platform and it has given some very good (and much needed) numbers to Honda in the past.

The 2018 version was too boxy but it is a very spacious car (could have been perfect if NVH levels were worked upon better) and a practical car to own. The facelift variant now looks boxier (at least to me from the pictures and videos) and the aspirational value of owning a mini Honda City seems to be lost somewhere (probably it would look better in flesh).

The issue is the pricing which will make sure that the car does not sell even 50% of its potential as the competition with Dzire and Aura (why Hyundai why) as well as Sonet / Venue (for automatics).

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

Too late Honda, too little, wrong direction, its product strategy sucks

There are 3 segments of SUVs (<4, 4.3/4, 4.5/6/7 m) extremely hot (sales wise) and bubbling (with new launches) and what honda has to offer in last 2 years in minor facelift in a shrinking segment.

I am personally disappointed, back in 2000s honda was the brand with the most trust in 7-15L segment. City was a bigger brand than Honda in India. Honda is reliable, can deliver fund to drive DNA, had designs edge over competitors. It could have been the Suzuki of 8-20L segment by now.

There is no sign of aggression from Honda, both Civic & CRV were half hearted approach.
If they had played right their product would have been in place of Creta.

Coming to Amaze, its always been a good package but Honda is yet to realize then their target audience has changed a lot form 2016, perception of Sedan has changed, and there are multilayered options (Baleno to Polo, Magnite, Triber to Nexon/ Sonet) offering better in every aspect.

Re: Honda Amaze facelift launched at Rs. 6.32 lakh

When the last gen (facelift) Amaze was launched, this difference between equivalent petrol and diesel models was exactly 1,00,000. Shocked to see that it is now 2,10,000. (VX CVT)
