2) 3.2L engine / 3198cc - 470 nm. (Discontinued)
3) 2.0L engine / 1995cc - 420 nm. (Currently available)
4) 2.0L bi-turbo engine / 1995cc - 500 nm. (To be launched. Will be game changer)
I've driven the 3.2 extensively and own the 2.0. Once again, in a real world scenario, you'd barely feel a difference torque wise.

In fact, the gearing on the 2.0 is much more refined since it is a 10 speed unit.

I've gone on the steepest of hills in both 3.2 and 2.0. If you want have a true hardcore off-road test. The 3.2 will win.

However, in the real world scenario. It barely makes a difference.

P.S On the road, the 2.0 feels much smoother since the 3.2 was always a very confused gearbox. It is like the car doesn't know which gear to pick.

The 2.0L Endeavour has much softer suspension and as you gain speed you don't feel confident. 3.2L has stiffer suspension at higher speeds there is lot more confidence. If you are driving at 100-110 then 2.0L is more than enough.
Another advantage I have seen is when the car is loaded. While the larger engine feels effortless, smaller block starts to struggle. At higher elevations like Ladakh, larger engine performs much better.
2.0L single turbo is adequate but doesnot feel special at 50L.

+1.
Agree with you 100%.

Don't want to get into the debate of 3.2L and 2.0L as both are moderately different. The 3.2L is more punchier, has more torque, better offroad and has better suspension set up for offroad. You will feel the difference in torque when the vehicle is fully loaded and also when you need additional boost to overtake on single lane highways. The only downside of the 3.2L is the 6R80 gearbox. The 2.0L definitely has a better and refined 10 speed gearbox.
Have done single lane dirt tracks Darcha-Shinkula- Padum-Singe la- Khalste in 3.2L and the engine is effortless even at 16000 feet+.

The topic of the thread is launch of the bi-turbo, so let's stick to that.

Re: Ford Endeavour 2.0L Bi-Turbo being tested; launch soon!

Had a technical query for existing owners here- with running of 400-500 kms a month (and atleast 30% of it within city), does it make sense to pick the about to be released (possibly) bi-turbo vehicle? Or is BS6 diesel a strict no no with such a running pattern irrespective of a more relaxed bi-turbo or not?

True. Not debating either. Was just trying to respond to what you mentioned about Torque figures since you quoted me. Some love the 3.2 and that's that.

Maybe it is just my opinion. I've had 8 on board, with luggage. On road, off road, high altitudes, low altitudes, the whole 9 yards. Never felt underpowered.

Enthusiasts notice a lot more than your normal end user. The 2.0 has a 3000 kilo towing capacity. It has decent grunt to handle most things.

You should not even consider a diesel car, let alone the Endeavour. In fact, your best bet will be to go for an EV (not even an ICE carl) that is more than enough for your 500Km/month usage.

This serves as a ray of hope for the future of Ford in India and I really wish this comes true.
Whether they're trying to launch this along with facelifted EcoSport?

Are there any plans to introduce the Ford Territory here to rival the likes of Kushaq, Creta and the Seltos?

An EV is just not possible right now for us. We didn't have issues with similar running from pre-BS6 diesels, so was wondering if this would fit. Very few 7-seater non-diesel options available as it is.

Not even few, you only have 2 options in 40 lakh range for 7 seater full size petrol SUV - Fortuner 2.7 and Tiguan allspace. If you want something more comfortable, then Innova 2.7 is your pick. The Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TSI is expected to launch by the year end. 500 km/month would translate to around 16.67 km/day. Diesel vehicle makes sense only if your average daily run is minimum 30-35 kms.

While I'm unsure how many cars the other member has, I personally wouldn't have EV for foreseeable future and my usage is ~500km per month.
The reason being, we do take up road trips twice a year spanning 1500+ kms and I hate renting vehicles with driver in them (many reasons for that) and there are no self driven options where we live. If given a chance I will self drive every single time. An EV is just too cumbersome (maybe impossible) to do that kind of trip spanning multiple days.

Current EVs could probably work out in the city but nowhere else. Heck the range anxiety would stop me from taking it to our farm which is just 180km round trip.

With current EV tech, I will pick an ICE car 10 out of 10 times even if I'm just clocking 500 odd kilometers. As for diesel v/s petrol, that is an even bigger debate.
Just my 2 cents.

A diesel makes sense only when the running is high.
I still don't understand why you chose a diesel car (doesn't matter BS4 or BS6) for such a low running.
Another option is to rent a self-driving diesel Fortuner, Endeavour, Crysta for your short term fully loaded outings.

If someone has decided on Body on Frame(for whatever requirement is), then it has to be diesel. Except for Crysta Petrol, none of the other options makes sense for a heavy body on frame vehicle, irrespective of your running. Petrol Body on frames are unexciting, gas guzzler and doesnot get 4x4. Getting one is a task and resale is poor as well. Whether one needs a body on frame or not is a different discussion.

While I do agree with many of your points, I also differ on a few other points. However, I prefer to stick to the topic of this thread.

Even then it's a bad idea to buy a diesel car for just 500kms/month. Yes, the 7 seater petrol options are limited in the sub 50L segment. That doesn't justify the choice of a diesel car.

I need a 7 seater 4x4 body on frame SUV. What options do I have? While cost of owning and running is one, it's not the only factor to decide on diesel/Petrol.

There is no reason to select the fuel before shortlisting the cars.

Going for the Endeavour is not a case of picking the car for its diesel engine but for the better engine as well as the better overall package. Hence the running per month is irrelevant.
