Re: Skoda Rapid’s production has ended, Slavia to replace it

Reading this as I complete my 845 Kms solo drive from Mumbai to Nagpur in my Ambition 1.0 TSI . The car performed brilliantly and this has been the most enjoyable journey for me ever.

The car came to my life bringing in a new dimension to how enjoyable yet frugal a car can be.

A lot of people in general ask me what made me buy this car over their choice of an ever-so-trending "Suv" in the same price band. They ask me if I am crazy or if I don't understand cars and luxury. But I don't react. Not one bit. I just feel pity for them that they can't experience what true driving pleasure is.

One of the best cars available in the respective segment. This was the first ever powerful diesel that I ever drove getting me hooked on to the TDIs. I remember them coming up with impeccable pricing options for the last iterations of this car.

The dieselheads will surely miss this car.

A car that actually lived up to its name in the 1.6/1.5 TDI and 1.0 TSI versions. Truly Rapid.

Kind of sad to read this news.
As a current owner of the 1.6 MPI Rapid, I fully agree with your opinion, Sir. A true all-round package of ride comfort [none of my family members are tall, hence no complaint of head/leg room, hehe], steering feedback, road manners, fuel economy, performance and in an explosive price package for the top end Style. I am now left thinking, scratching my head with one hand and consoling my heart with the other why Skoda did this to Rapid.

Re: Skoda Rapid’s production has ended, Slavia to replace it

Glad that I drove home my Rapid TSI MT amidst the lockdown in Aug 2020. Enjoying every kilometre with it and the 1.0 TSI is a hoot to drive. Recently completed 18k kms even though I’m primarily working from home. I’m always finding reasons to drive the car.

Re: Skoda Rapid’s production has ended, Slavia to replace it

A tribute to one of the few cars that truly lived up to its name. To the machine that started my obsession with the German stallions. Farewell.

A picture of my horse, almost 8 years old and running ~50,000 kilometres strong.

Re: Skoda Rapid’s production has ended, Slavia to replace it

I was in two minds last year on purchasing the Rapid TSI v/s waiting for the Slavia. A lot of BHPians chimed in with their valuable inputs and I decided to take the plunge knowing that I could be purchasing one of the last Rapids ever to be produced.

I don't regret the decision one bit (atleast till now). Puts a smile on my face every time I take it out for a spin!

One of the best handling sedans especially the TDI.
In my opinion there is no real replacement of this car in the market today.

Some pics of my beloved beast. 4+ years and it still drives like a new car just out of the Showroom.

Re: Skoda Rapid’s production has ended, Slavia to replace it

Heading out from Gurgaon to Mussoorie in my 8.5 year old Rapid as I read this. It’s the best handling car in this range, with a fantastic engine and build. It’s such a pleasure to drive this car in the twisties.

I have been in Korean cars with half the age and 1/10the abuse my car has seen, and this one still outshines the Koreans when it comes to annoying squeaky rattling sounds that come with age.

I always wanted to buy another Rapid when I change this one, but looking at Kushaq’s review I don’t think Slavia will be able to replace my Rapid. In fact, there’s no replacement in this segment for Rapid in the horizon, so I intend to keep it for another 4-5 years at least.

Re: Skoda Rapid’s production has ended, Slavia to replace it

I just sold my Skoda Rapid Diesel Automatic 1.5L last week after almost 7 years of use.

It had its injector and ABS sensor failures but now that I drive a TC automatic, I miss the shifts of the DSG.

Almost 49K miles over Mumbai and Bangalore and places around them: combination of speed and frugality.

But no VAG cars in India for me after seeing the Kushaq and Slavia threads.

Recently saw some Rapids gathering dust in a parking lot near a dealership in Gurgaon. Safe to say, onlookers weren't happy

One of the best all rounder in under 20L price bracket. Built like a tank, thrilling performance, exciting handling and frugal fuel efficiency makes it a drivers car! Long live Rapid.
