If SX4 diesel has to be launched by Maruti then it has to come with a 1.5L MJD engine from Fiat. I have not yet heard of its production here in India or its plan from any source. So introduction of SX4 diesel is a long way off.

Maruti has license rights for three engines from the JTD series: 1.3, 1.6 and 1.9.

Check this thread:

Given that Maruti has rights for 1.6 and 1.9, I doubt if it'll spoil the fun by offering 1.3 in SX4.

Internationally, the SX4 hatch comes fitted with JTD 1.9!

They anyways have production constraints even for Petrol variants.

IMO they will keep a few cards with them right now and wait for All New (?) City 2008 to be launched by Honda before they launch the SX4 DDIS.

Right their hands are too full to handle this variant.

A 1.9L diesel on the SX4 would surely ruffle a lot of feathers !!!!! But it does seem a long way off yet.

Cheers

well sx4 diesel cannot be expect before march as this is the season period and they would want to use there production capicity in petrol instead of adding one more to the list

Car India magazine (Sept) says mid-2008, while Splash may be introduced in the end of 2008.

I got this info from the same magazine, it is confirmed that SX4 will have the 1.9:

1.9 DDIS engine: 1910 CC, Common rail turbo diesel, 122PS, 280Nm.

God save the competition, if it is as good as its earlier counterpart with the above specs.

Wait & Watch policy is the best policy.

Till then mods can lock this thread or this will be yet another rumour thread.

SX 4 with the 1.3 litre ddis ( with variable geometry turbo and 90 bhp) can be a good option at the lower end with 1.6 litre options for those who want something more. This will also nable Maruti to offer killer pricing and blow competition away. Except for the Verna no one will come close to it and then Verna is not a city friendly car and is seriously short on equipment.

One thing about the 1.9 JTD specs, the torque is still shy of the Optra!!! THe optra is amazing man. It gives you a reason to go broke and buy the car

when

why the discussion on the launch of sx4 ddis stopped suddenly? i have finalised on buying a sx4 but i dont mind waiting a couple of months for the ddis. so when actually the ddis is going to be launched and what would be the price difference? would the top end with airbags, abs and climate control be offered in ddis guise? please answer as i cant wait any longer to buy my new car.

Hi Patil,

I dont think SX4 DDiS will be released any time soon. I guess it will be only in 2009 we will see this car.

Maruti already has capacity constraints in manufacturing diesel swifts, so i am quite sure that the SX4 DDIS wont be here anytime soon. Atleast not till Md next year.
