I drove my friends' dark edition automatic variant and felt that the automatic has to be kept in sports mode during hill climbs and quick overtaking but the engine is always on the boil and your FE figures nosedives. Also many a times, I shifted the gear from N,R and P mode to D mode, but the gears never engaged. I had to go back to the N,R and P mode and again slot to D mode. I have a magnite CVT and there, I found no such issue. Quite strange though, I told my friend about this issue and he also acknowledged it but never found it bother some.

My EV is 2021 December model. Back then there was no max or prime, just standard Nexon EV, mine is the XZ+ model.
Wireless charger is on the new one i guess.

Our friendly neighbourhood AutoSpy caught up with one of the newer test mules in Pune earlier today. According to him, the new-gen Nexon is supposedly to come with vertical lighting arrangement at the front - similar to the Harrier EV which was showcased at the Auto Expo.

Nexon doesn't have a P mode in AMT. It's RND and M configuration to left side. Nexon AMT, atleast in Diesel version, is not as bad as it's portrayed tobe. Unless one does a tap dance on AB pedals, it's quite reasonable for overtakes in City mode as well.

My bad with the analogy with Magnite gears ..but the issue was there while slotting gears.. I drove the petrol version and found exciting only in sports mode. Can't say about the diesel variant.

With paddle shifters as well. Also, MID looks different from the recent Harrier one. Looks similar to the one in Curvv, Sierra. Doors are identical to current nexon. Looking forward to it.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Tata won't launch the significantly updated Nexon before early next year. January usually is the time when they launch a new product and this being the most important product launch for them.

Birdie chips in that the new-gen Nexon will have a DCT option in both petrol AND diesel fuel options. Both iterations will be equipped with paddle shifters as well.

Launch is chalked up for Q1 2024, as of now.

Any idea why not DCA ? I would have expected them to continue with what they have in their line-up, unless there are some issues with the DCA

I think its the same DCA gearbox that does the duty in the Altroz, maybe just that the nomenclatures sound similar.
No way Tata is developing another new gearbox for the essentially the same power trains. However, i have my doubts about the DCA/DCT setup with the diesel engine. This is the first time we are hearing of this. Wouldnt make sense for Tata to do this combination only on the nexon, so either both the Altroz and the Nexon are getting this or its just the petrol DCA combination that already exists in the Altroz.

The diesel automatic is great news!!! Anyday over the AMT. Have only read good things about the smoothness of the Altroz DCA in reviews that I forget it is a DCT and assume it is a CVT.

That said, hope they take care of the DCT jerkiness at parking speeds. Also isn't the present punchglide transmission limited to 200nm?

And it will probably cost 18+ lakhs by the time it is launched next year. Just hope there is an XMA variant too.

Same it should be, Punch powertrain and Tata Autocomp had planned one dedicated plant for the unit for India in 2022 as a 50:50 JV.
Quote:
The new joint venture (JV) will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, marketing and sales of the revolutionary compact dual clutch transmission design (DT1) in India and to global markets. The JV will also carry out a wide range of activities to supply Punch Powertrain’s conventional-hybrid DCTs, continuously variable transmission (CVT) and EV reducers to customers in India.

Is it just me or does the steering wheel seem similar to the old Tata CV buses and trucks ?
