2009 Alto 800 - Checked highway mileage yesterday during a Trichy - Chennai run. Three adults and quite a bit of luggage. 19.3 kmpl, auto cut off to auto cut off. City FE is usually around 13-14 kmpl.

2000 Splendor- 63 kmpl approx, reserve to reserve, city. Never goes on highway.

AC always on. Sometimes rear one depending on occupancy.
City 10.5
Highway 17.8.
Consistently got 17plus average on highways with AC on for last 8 plus years speed 90 to 110

Your Highway mileage is unbelievable.. It is around 20% more than the ARAI figure. Have you done some changes to the tires? Overfilling or different size?

Thank you very much sir. Mine is a manual petrol that will be delivered soon. Should get maybe 1kmpl more than what you highlighted

Thanks again, now I've an idea that in Mumbai evening traffic economy will be 7-8 and blended maybe 9-10 for manual petrol. :thumbs up

This is what is displayed on car info screen.
Not by tank fill method.
However, i have been monitoring it for last so many years when going to my native place or any long distance travel,17 is guaranteed.
One insight may be,we mainly travel with 2 people( me& my spouse ) when going to native place & generally travel in early morning to avoid traffic.
No special arrangement done in vehicle.
Try to drive in 6 th gear as far as possible.
servicing only at NBS Goregaon.

Here is a the magic of a Hybrid

This morning, trip reading on my Toyota Camry Hybrid - 4.7 kms @ 30.2 kmpl.

Around 7 am, there was hardly any traffic and no traffic lights, so the Hybrid was able to work at full efficiency ! Did 4.7 kms in 11 minutes, hence was not very slow either.

Typically, the average mileage I get is,
Bangalore City - 13-14 kmpl
Trip to Bangalore Airport - 20-21 kmpl ( 80 kmph speed limit)
Outstation - 18-19 kmpl (speeds of around 110 kmph)

Cheers

KPS

Honda ZX CVT 5th Gen
19-22 kmpl highway
14-16 kmpl City (light traffic)
10-12 kmpl City (heavy traffic)

Skoda Yeti Elegance 4x4
22-25 kmpl highway
12-15 kmpl City

BMW 3 GT
18-25 kmpl highway
10-14 kmpl City

From a recent trip on 2019 Verna CRDI AT with 15K Kms on the odo...
Bangalore - Chennai - Bangalore (Midnight run both ways to avoid traffic) : 22.3 Kmpl
Bangalore - Goa - Bangalore (Daytime run) : 21.7 Kmpl

My 2020 Swift AMT returned an atrocious mileage of 12 kmpl in the most recent full top up. The car was mostly driven by a chauffer. I suspect he kept the AC on while waiting during a pick up.

The car is also due for it's 30,000 kms servicing. I hope the car returns to it's usual 17-19 kmpl figures once the servicing is done.

My Ares (MG Astor 1.3T) has just 1 caveat so far. That's the truly abysmal mileage it gives.

I've done about 5000km so far. out of which almost 4000 have been in the city. Mileage numbers are from my observations and overall from the Tank to Tank method using Fuelio to keep the logs.

Highway mileage: 15.5kmpl
City Mileage: 8kmpl

Lifetime average on Fuelio: 8.9kmpl

Worst city mileage recorded on MID: 5.5kmpl
Best city mileage on MID: 11.5kmpl
Best highway mileage on MID: 17.5kmpl
Current numbers on MID: 9.5kmpl (This was reset around 2.5k due to an issue)

AC is ON at all times, on AUTO settings.

Auto AC did consume a lot of fuel in our 2010 Beat. Mileage drops quite a bit when the AC was set to auto. For instance when the temperature&fan speed were set manually city mileage figures were around 13kmpl and when the AC was set to auto the mileage hovered around 10-11kmpl.

Try switching the AC to manual mode and see if it causes any difference.

You're right, a lot of times it's the auto mode that tries to cool the entire cabin at full. Once I tried to drive without AC altogether, cracked open the driver side window a bit and tilted the sunroof. got 12kmpl in the city!
But the scorching heat is too much to not have the AC. Although I don't really understand why having the Climate Control on in winters decrease the average, considering heater is supposed to use the engine's heat generation. (Can anyone confirm this, or have I fallen to an internet BS?)

Tigor XZA+ AMT (Petrol) Mar-2020

-> City driving in Bengaluru:
Light traffic (I'm feeling lucky today lol:) - 14-15 kmpl
Bumper to Bumper (The best of Bengaluru!) - min 11-12 kmpl
-> Airport drive 80-90kmph:
Once did 5 adults + 1 kid + 6 medium sized bags - 19-20 kmpl
-> Highway drives (mildly spirited driving) - 19 kmpl

Auto AC on at all times 24'C
Tankful to tankful method
MID error approx 0.5-0.8 kmpl
Real-time MID bar helps a lot for the instant feedback on driving style wrt FE.

Mahindra XUV700 D AT AWD

15-17 kmpl highway
11-13 kmpl city with light traffic
9-11 kmpl city with heavy traffic

Driven total 5555 kms in 2.5 months of ownership with the longest single-day drive of 921 kms in 16.5 hours giving the fuel efficiency of 16.44 (tankful method) and the MID showing 17.1!

2019 Skoda Kodiaq TDi

If you're really leisurely : From Lonavala to the first food court - kept it around 80 since I was wary of speed cameras.

I drive 2017 XUV500 W6 AT and been using it 90% highways & 10% city. The mileage has been consistent and I usually go tank full every time I refuel. The mileage differs when I cruise in different speeds in top (6) gear

80-90kmph (1600 rpm) : 13.5-14kmpl
110-120 (1900rpm-2000rpm) : 12.5kmpl

City: hovers between 9 to 10.5kmpl
