The pick-up version existed even in the earlier (and better looking) shape.
It used to feature leaf springs at the rear to cope with the heavier loads.

as per the plans as of now there wont be an adventure in offering<but we may seduce fiat/tata to launch it instead of marina!!>.
most probabely fiat will come with 1.2 <new fire engine not the 1242cc engine used in uno,siena and palio>1.4 fire petrol versions.
1.6 may get phased out slowly.
1.9JTD 148 BHP DIESEL<FITTED IN CADILLAC BLS> will not be available in india.

initially tata will come with 1.3 jtd indica x1 --which will be improved over the swift design.
then fiat will launch 1.3 grande punto&linea with still better 1.3 jtd.

the 1.6 engine has already been phased out in other countries. i hope the newer FIRE engines are a silky and torquey as out 1.6-es

AND HOPE WE GET GENUINE PARTS FOR OUR 1.6-es out here

IMHO, the Linea should come with the 1.9L JTD 120bhp engine and Fiat should also seriously consider the same engine for the Adventure too.

There are so many engine options made avaliable by Fiat abroad, why not in India? Thats the best way to get some sales.

The Fiat India diesel line up should be:

Palio 1.3 75bhp.
Adventure 1.3 75bhp.
Adventure 1.3 90bhp.
Grande Punto 1.3 75bhp.
Grande Punto 1.3 90bhp.
Grande Punto 1.9 120bhp 6 speed M/T.
Linea 1.3 90bhp.
Linea 1.9 120bhp 6 speed M/T.
Linea 1.9 140bhp 6 speed M/T.

well to be sure GP wont be successful in India maybe bcoz it wont give the kind of FE figures Swift D gives bcoz eventhough both will have the same engine Swift will still give more average bcoz of its Maruti built quality

@TURBOSAM where did you get the GP launch news, hope your news is true as ACI reported Palio 1.3JTD is coming in start of 08 followed by lieana and GP will be launched in end 08

as on now the plans say that
linea will be launched before grande punto,
gp will not be available in 1.9jtd form ..
th 1.3 jtd will be faster, quicker,cleaner more refined less noisey, more aerodynimic than swift
the avrage of g.p1.3 jtd will be @ the same as swift as jtd will have wider tyres, better gearing , much advanced and refined management system, much better engine compnent quality and more weight because of much better chasis and more crumple zones, more sheet metal at right places!

Hey TS,

Is Fiat introducing any safety features (ABS, Airbags) in JTD Stile or GP. That's the only missing link between Fiat and sales. That will definately increase numbers.
