I have owned both these cars, and from experience, the NHC is a smooth sail, but fun to drive is Cedia, Also the cars suspension is amazing so is the power and handling when compared to the NHC, actually its not a good comparison IMO. Anyhow, The mitsu wins this one hands down!

Wow!

This one's a tough one because -

1) Both cars are in the same price range

2) Both cars are equally fuel efficient

3) Both cars have the same level of luxury, Cedia being more basic compared to its segment, City VTEC being loaded compared to its brethren

4) Both cars are Japanese, and that means they're reliable etc.

5) Both cars matched in terms of performance

6) Both cars are going to be replaced next model year with a completely new design

7) Both have equal modding potential and fan followings

8) Both have GREAT interiors in their respective trims

My opinion:

-> Make the MOST sensible purchase and get the Cedia Select ALPG Same car, lots of savings, same great performance when needed, savings when not. If not then:

-> If you want more space and a bigger car feel, chose the Cedia

-> If you want a more compact, easier to drive in the worst traffic conditions type of car, get the City VTEC

Cedia might not be replaced next year. Mitsubishi might launch the new Lancer but that will be priced higher.

Its obviously Cedia at TBHP. Had it been some utilitarian forum, perhaps city still had better chances and also another reason is that Cedia no doubt is full of adrenalin as compared to Vtec city( often I tend to forget that city has this option too!!)

Cedia rules

B'cos it is the poor man's Mercedes

whereas the NHC is the Middle Class Dream.

Lancer

Well the present lancer that is selling in India has proven itself in the rallies and the suspension shows that Mitsubishi has the experience of how to make te suspensions of cars.

You cant compare the two cars. Lancer is a great car that has the chassis to handle the power generated by the engine. You can put the pedal to the metal on the open roads and still the manners of the car is in your hand.
More space is added bonus.

City is good but not at all great. The car is not good in crosswinds at above 140kmph. The suspensions is no match for the Mitsubishi. Engine is great but the Lancer is not that far behind. Real life fuel effeciency difference on highway is around 2 kmpl( as per my knowledge and survey ).

Simply put, Honda lacks the dynamic ability that comes with Lancer.
Lancer can easily touch heart with its suspension and good fuel effecienty for a 2.0 Ltr engine. The torque makes is a pleasure to drive in city and makes for great overtaking.
Yes honda has VTEC, but no soul of Original Honda City( OHC ).
I am one of the few who drove that car and after 5000rpm, it had the soul that i find in Esteem MPFI and Baleno and in small capacity it was Zen G10 that that had soul.
Present SX4 or City VTEC Zen are not good cars and are without soul! And its bad.

ACI figures seem to suggest Cedia wins, but the difference is marginal. 10.5 (city) against 10.23 for the Mitsu.

The quarter mile times for a stock cedia in the recently concluded speed run was 16.9x while that of a civic was 18.x. (both street stock category) If the civic is so far behind, its hopeless to even talk about the city.

AT could be the reason for the poor Civic figures.

My vote goes for Cedia. That is because of its edge over NHC in terms of Power, safety features (abs, airbags), Comfort. The only thing that is bad is its resale value. But still am voting for it because i will keep a car for 4 to 5 years with me and resale value should not be a concern.

I know how bad it hurts when you sell a car very early because i sold my swift by keeping it only for 16 months and 22k on the ODO.
