yes surely they are waiting for the Jazz to get launched.
sometime back i heard punto to be launched by first week of june
then came the announcement of the Jazz launch dates
then we all heard the dates to be 15th/17th June(still not confirmed)
but i dont get the picture.
very honestly people who want to buy Jazz will not buy Punto however good the car may be
and people who love punto and want a vfm package wont be even looking at jazz
well the %age of people swaying in either directions might be what fiat would be targetting.
I wonder what would that %age be in numbers!

Thats heartening to note that it has atleast 185s. Can't stand the car without those alloys, looks odd. |
The tyre is Good Year 195/60 -15" Alloys on Emotion Pk.
Its Keyless entry in Emotion pk
As you rightly said, whatever that percentage is, it will be very low and moreover Jazz and Punto are in two different leagues (even though they might be hatchbacks).
I guess what Fiat does not want is losing customer mindshare when launch happens.

I am not sure about that. I think Honda pricing Jazz 1.5L more than what it deserves, has resulted in the difference of positioning in our minds. And since the pricing of Jazz (7L ex-S Delhi) was out a long time back, we have sort of begun to accept it in our mind.
I think so cause Jazz is larger than the GP and the positioning itself is different as a premium hatchback unlike the GP. Honda will anyway demand premium and in India we are used to that isn't it?
I think FIAT are waiting to launch the Punto after the Jazz because once the Jazz is finally launched with its high starting price of 7L +, then FIAT will come in and launch the Punto with its 5.5L+ price which will make the common man to think that it is even more value for money. Which it really is IMO.
Just starting to think if these two hatchbacks (GP and Jazz) would be nimble enough to drive in horrible traffic conditions like the ones found in our metros. At the face of it Jazz looks massively built (almost like an innova but a size smaller), the GP looks a little smaller. Waiting see the final pricing of these two cars. Honda will definitely play the premium card without giving too many goodies and FIAT will play its subdued half brother with a cap on the price some additional features to make it more value for money.
Here's the difference between the Punto being ready for sale here, and one that is sold world over...
They've preferred to leave the punto with the central console from the Linea instead of making the one that belongs to the Punto.. Cost savings, I'm sure..

If my history is correct, the linea's dash is borrowed from Punto. The Indian version of the punto will be sold around 5~6 Lakhs, the ones in Europe are sold between 8~9 Lakhs (converted to INR). With a diffrence of around 2 lakhs between these regional version there would definitely be some cost cutting.

You are comparing an 'Abarth' Punto with an Indian Punto, which is not fair.
The Indian Punto in this picture is not emotion pk variant. Notice the missing steering controls?
I am not sure if the emotion and emotion+pk get different central consoles. Can anyone who has seen both in Indian Puntos confirm please?
Or for that matter, is there any difference in central consoles of Linea Emotion and Linea Emotion Pk?
@k_ajay: There isnt much difference except for the crevice at the top of the vents to keep knik knaks. Offcourse this being Emotion version, there is no ACC.
As i have seen the GP Dash, its looks so dry and rough, May be thats the reason it doesn't look nice .
May be a polishing will do the job :D

Emotion= AC/PS/rear wiper?defogger/cd player/ keyless entry/Electric mirrors
E+ = Airbags/climate control/blue n me/ steerting controls/ alloys
IIRC, the E+ had some silver bits and pieces here and there on the dashboard, looked different from the emotion. Not clear on this coz the car was locked.
