Re: What grinds your gears the most about your car? List your primary annoyance

2015 Ford Fiesta

1. Sync by Microsoft: the most useless feature in the car. Slow, buggy & a big pain to update. While the sound quality is decent for something 8 years old, there are no viable alternatives if you want to keep the control of features such as rain sensing wipers, folding of mirrors, etc. All of that is controlled through the ICE and finding a compatible CANBUS interface for replacement ICE is difficult.

2. Weak Braking system: Requires a better braking system. Better brake pads & larger discs. Can be cured with a good set of aftermarket brake pads. I replace the stock ones with EBC Yellowstuff pads and a very through bleeding of the brake lines. This improved the braking considerably, however the con is that the disc wears out noticeably faster.

3. Placement of the oil filter: the placement of the oil filter is such that you need to decouple and remove the hose for airbox to intake manifold to get proper access to the oil filter. Else you will need to try installing the oil filter but touch and feel and twisting your hand and fingers. It can get quite frustrating.

I came here to gripe about missing passenger side request sensor in my 8 year old Verna and here you are saying that Hyundai has skipped it even in the latest iteration!!

9 out of 10 times the driver side sensor is enough for my needs but there is that one time in several months when you walk up to the passenger side carrying heavy shopping bags on each hand and lo there is no sensor!

Toyota Innova 2.5V (2008)

Noise in the cabin, engine noise.

Suzuki Swift ZXi

Noise in the cabin

Polo GT TSI

Rear seat leg room,

DSG gear box, unpredictable behaviour for gear shift when driving on rough road or crossing speed brakers. Slight slippage of wheels creates confusion for the DSG to decide at which rpm to shift

Re: What grinds your gears the most about your car? List your primary annoyance

I own a Grand i10 (P) 2016
1. Engage the first and second gears, and the car will never pull you.
2. Annoying reverse gear. Only once in 5 times would it engage.
3. Switch on the AC and the engine is dead.
4. Poor seating position.

i20: As mentioned in the first post, the fuel tank is just inadequate for long drives. For a 500km drive, you'll be left searching for a fuel stop once you cross the 2/3 of the distance and range anxiety kicks in. Adding more scare here is that my variant (2015) does not even get a Distance to Empty meter and its all guesswork.
But the Elite i20 2015 model came with a 45L tank. And I owned a diesel elite i20, it had a range of 900kms and I used to go to fuel station after running 750kms after filling the tank. Hope you had the petrol VTVT which was a fuel guzzler I guess.

Mahindra XUV 700 AX7 Petrol Automatic (Dec 2021)

The biggest annoyance even after owning the vehicle for over 2 years now remains the "Football-in-the-boot" sound every time one fills up the tank. Mahindra refusing to even acknowledge the issue gets my goat every darn time I'm at the service centre. Another frown-worthy issue would be the minor rattles around the cabin which crop up suddenly and then disappear suddenly as well.

Re: What grinds your gears the most about your car? List your primary annoyance

In our Venue DCT, here are some things that annoy me.

Fuel economy - 7-8 kmpl for our 3 cylinder is horrendous. It is a DCT but didn't expect this low. On the highways the best we are getting is 14, with my dad driving like an enthusiast.
The highest we ever got was 17. For a four cylinder DCT like in other Kia/Hyundai models this is fine, but for a 3 cylinder?

Headlights - Just Halogen Projectors. Ours is a 2019 model so pre-facelift. Facelifted models have LED projectors. The throw is decent, but LED's would look and perform better.

Re: What grinds your gears the most about your car? List your primary annoyance

MG Hector Diesel Sharp variant:

I bought the manual because of the lack of an AT option. I don't why MG is hell bent on not giving a Diesel AT in Hector. They have the Petrol CVT but it is under powered and a fuel guzzler. If they had an option of AT in diesel, I am sure that would have brought them at least 500-1000 more units of sale every month!

S-presso Vxi AGS:

The steering does not auto center and you need some experience to get used to this steering behavior. Other than that there is wind noise and ambient noise getting into the cabin. Slightly bouncy ride but that can be ignored.

Re: What grinds your gears the most about your car? List your primary annoyance

2017 Tata Tiago AMT - XZA (P)

Fuel Economy - I get ~11-12 kmpl in mild city traffic with AC on, ~13-15 kmpl on highway with AC on.
AMT - Jerky gear changes, specially over slopes.
Brakes - Brakes are not confidence inspiring from day 1. They're spongy with no obvious bite point.

Alto K10 2011

The seat's are not really comfortable, bought it just last year this time to learn & adapt to driving as our first car, getting somewhere to a wedding make our backs drenched in sweat even in AC blowing at 2 points. The suspension life was already at 50% when I purchased it, now the damage is more, I don't intend to spend on it.

Re: What grinds your gears the most about your car? List your primary annoyance

My buddy Vento TD1 1.6 2014

Extremely sensitive to fuel quality, by chance I feed her from an average non-coco pump, it’ll behave like a bullock cart, even if I place a 1-ton rock on the A pedal it’ll not make any difference. Not sure if any other VAG TDI owners feel the same.

Well, otherwise it’s a beast and it’ll not disappoint you.

The engine noise and the small seats of my 2019 Tiago bothers me a lot. The noise above 2000 rpm gets very annoying especially if there is no music playing.

Jeep Compass: Need to be careful while ingress. If wife has driven previously and I don't pull the driver seat back, there is chance of a head injury while getting in.

Santro: No complaints about a 19 year old friend. She needs love and care for the service and memories.

Honda Jazz 2016 Petrol S CVT

The one thing i find annoying in my car is sometimes, the belly of the car gets scrapped when crossing over big size speedbraker. The workaround i use here is to take angled approach to cross the speedbraker, which is only possible when there is no traffic around.

Polo: Poor rear leg space, whenever I drove with full passengers, always got a comment that leg space is very less.
No locking controls on doors, like literally anyone can open the door from inside even if the car was locked.

Creta: so far I am loving it and have not experience any annoyance.
