The car does look ugly compared to whats available in the market but having said that if they launch it at a good price it will sell.

But how will maruti manage to make these when they cant deliver my swift even after 3 months of waiting..

Have I missed out anyother?
Bye and wear your seat belts.
The Fiat 1100 & Landmaster were hatches?

But I do agree that this car will really go down well and Im sure there will be a tonne of people looking to book this car. I hope they change the front a little too to make it look a bit different from the Swift.

With disrepect to none, But do you all BHPians think this as an original pic??
Those rear door shutlines cannot be highlighted that dark when compared to the front shutlines...It somehow looks like a CRISS CROSS job!!

I feel this is original because if it was PSed, then the person will make it more creative than what is shown here.

He would have used different alloys, new bumpers and not like the ones on SX4 etc. And why not a clearer pic and why in the factory? Why would he want to retain the black stickers on the pillars, Looks bad. And the cheap looking chrome on the boot.

Oh man, so much of negativity from people about the looks...all I would like to say is once its on sale it will decimate sales for alot of other brands and dont forget that India & MAruti have a long history...and this will make it even longer.

to answer some of the questions:
- no PS. its as REAL as it gets. i saw it.
- cant tell how i got the scoop.
- the scene at the background obviously tells "where", Maruti plant, Gurgaon.
- i hope its just a prototype and MUL should try and improve. hell i say start from scratch ppl.
- and the looks are not "THAT" bad. they are alright. wont make u throw up atleast.
- the bumper design is a rip-off sx4.
- the rear overhang reminds me of verna.
That's a real "spy pic" , I mean straight from the lion's den.
Has there been an increase in the wheelbase, I am not that intelligent to be able to spot it from your pic

I dont understand what is the big confusion about, SX4 was a hatch and look at the sedan doesnt look bad, does it ?. Indica was a hatch and Indigo looks ok, Logan was a hatch and the sedan looks just about ok, Optra was a sedan and SRV is pretty much same, both look pretty smart. So just leave it to the Maruti guys I am sure they will do a good job. BTW one can just park a swift and a SX4 side by side the front looks more or less the same, I am sure the back will look the same too if made in the right proportions.

Instead of welding that boot / butt, they could've made it as an accessory like a TRAILER. You attach the boot when you want it or use it as your swift hatch back.

It would've been cheaper too...

nice one torqy

BTW i have to agree with "ranc". The only maruti car that's really good looking is Zen (not estilo), Esteem(during its time), and Grand Vitara. Loot at Alto, Baleno, Versa. Nothing to boast about their designs.

But lets look at the brighter side. Swift has always been a looker from all angels except REAR (FatMama). So if so called "Swift Sedan" REAR is not "Sexy" we still dont have to worry about that or do we ??? After all a Sedan derived from Swift.

Let the car atleast hit the dealerships maybe it looks better in person.

If its real, then its as good or as bad looking as the SX4. Bulbous designs seem to have become the norm with Suzuki designs.

I think Maruti should concentrate more on manufacturing and delivering their EXISTING models on time to waiting customers !!

About the rear, If you asks me, it looks a bit like the Verna's rear end...

** Pushes off before Verna owners go ballistic **

Looks original to me, although the shutlines leave some element of doubt.
I guess this is the way modern car designs are going to end up, and so we would just have to accept it.

When it goes on sale, i am sure there would be many takers, just as there were for the SX4.

I agree. Expect a 3 month waiting list eventually

Great scoop Amit Verma!
Looks better than the photoshops we have seen so far.
Who's bothered about looks anyway?
Powered with a Fiat diesel and priced right, it'll sell like hot cakes.

Anyone in the know about this car's length? Just wondering what excise it will attract.
