It feels good to see Indian companies acquiring big brands!.
Particularly, TATA is creating waves through (planned) acquisition of brands like - Jaguar, Land Rover, Starbucks etc.
It shall also change the indian market scene. Nice to see two indian auto companies Maruti & TATA taking the lead and bringing very good cars and brands in to India!

Way to go!!!

Deal is done. Tata acquires Jaguar and Land Rover for $2.3bn ! Wow !

BBC NEWS | Business | Tata buys Jaguar in £1.15bn deal

Also read this : BBC NEWS | Business | Who gains most as Tata buys UK legends?

"But best of all for Tata, the pain of pouring cash into Jaguar and Land Rover will be mitigated by the fact they can then apply the resulting technology to improve its own models in India, helping it steal a march on rivals both at home and internationally."

Great move, kudos to TATA. Hope Tata will manage to make these into profit unlike Ford. But still I wonder how can Tata do this while an International giant like Ford failed to do so. Waiting eagerly to see their plans and strategies, and ofcourse Indian launch and cheaper versions too

Atleast for Jag, that will be the biggest mistake Tata will do.. Ford tried to make Jag a regular brand.. and look it had to sell it off to Tata Motors (a relatively new entrant in the field). The Jag brand needs to have a premium appeal to sell.. It will be an uphill task for Tata since they are associated with Nano everywhere.. lets see how they handle it..

Tata should rename Jaguar to Tiger.

May be you aren't aware that TATA manufactures Jaguar engine blocks at its facility in Pune.

All I ask from TATA is to revive the XJ220 with the help of Ferrari and you are back in business.

I think Ford didn't allow Jaguar to build supercars as it would put it in direct competition to Aston Marting which was also owned by Ford till recently.
