VW execs will not be going to work in a convoy, especially in a VW Polo for the simple reason that deliveries even in Germany and UK are starting only middle of next month.
LHD versions with D plates must have been imported for testing/ homologation and the like.
As far as the Seat Ibiza goes, it is based on the same platform as the new Polo, and the previous gen would have been similarly based on the old Polo and the current Fabia. They might be testing the engines, or even focus grouping to test pricing vs Fabia and Polo to see what they can get away with given each car's feature set.
Nice pics. The rear lamps are nice. Notice the integrated LED indicators in the outer rear view mirrors? (Not that its coming to us here!)
I will comment only when we get clear pics of Indian spec vehicles.
From what I could make out in the spy pics at Carwale etc. things have changed as far as light clusters, antenna, ride height etc go.
Oh well...

@Mods: Can we change the title of the thread to "VW Polo - prelaunch discussions" as the title of this thread has lost its relevance.

Thanks,

True, in fact there is already a thread on Polos being spotted road testing here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ad-tested.html

Some merging in order, perhaps?

Some more pics of Seat Ibiza and Polo

These are old pics. The Polo being tested now has right hand drive and an Indian TC registration.

The Ibiza is also stationary due to a mechanical failure. Ibiza will not be launched in india.

Cannot disclose any other information, sorry.

Well I was surprised when I saw LHD Polos being tested because that meant that VW had made no changes at all to the car. Something like the current Skodas which suffer because of our fuel and conditions. Hopefully the RHD version has had engines changed to work in India, and not just Duestchland.

More spotting of the Polo yesterday (opposite E-square) and this morning (near Pashan circle and heading towards Bavdhan). A convoy again as many as 3-4 cars. No stripes, no camouflage, no nothing! They were going in full public view.

Full prices declared of the Polo :

4.35 , 4.82 , 5.72 - 1.2 Petrol

5.35 , 5.8 , 6.75 - 1.2 Diesel

Prices in indian rupees ( in lakhs )

They are just planning like the chinese people . They planned the crisis 50 years ago. So they didn't go into any troubles and are progressing so fast . But no quality . But i love VW :D

Note from Mod : Team-BHP's VW Polo Testdrive report has been uploaded at this linky. Please continue the discussion over on that thread.
