Atlast Fiat has woken up . Even the koreans have upstaged Fiat, buy doing an unexpected launch of i20 in the current year itself.

Fiat has probably realised that they are only losing mindshare and some cruicial sales volume, and would have got ACI to release this news.

Anyways, if the prices mentioned are true, the Fiat can be forgiven for all their goofups on the launch front. It sure is a killer pricing, and Honda has all the reasons to worry. If the feature list mentioned in the Dec issue of ACI and the prices mentioned today in their website are true, I am sure Fiat has a winner in hand, not withstanding the recession and all that.

Assuming the prices are true, the Aveo (whatever they sold) and the Fiesta P should indeed need to be worried about.

The prices look outrageous. Too good to be true! There has to be some catch somewhere.

Sshhh dont tell any one.! Fiat Linea Brief Drive - Launch 15 Jan

ok guys, cant answer any questions as to where and how did i drive it before the launch but the Linea is ready for the launch on 15 Jan.

Quick impressions Linea 1.3 Multiet Emotion+
1.First glance of the vehicle is stunning. The grill finishes and other surfacing is spectacular.
2. It is much longer then it looks in the automagazies.
3. Emotion+ is the top end model with the added feature of the Blue and Me system over the Emotion model.
4. Interior fit and finish is better then most d segment cars.
5. Engine is barely audible in the cabin below 3500rpm. Very responsive and driveable but not ridiculously quick (as compared to verna or magnum)
6. Steering position is a little on the higher and closer side (i am not very tall) but the height adjustable seat goes up quite a bit so its okay.
7. Ride quality is excellent and suspension rebound is well under control.no violent thuds.
8. Gearshifts, audio system, ACC are up to standards so no point writing about it.
9. Finally seats are very very comfort and leg room is equal to the ANHC.
10. Price not more than 9L for Top End Emotion.

Thats my quick impression. hope to drive it again in a few days after the launch.

Wow !!

Guyz,

I have been closely watching the threads on Linea for the last 6-7 months, I am in love with this car. Is the Petrol version as good as the MJD. I would be using the car only for 500kms in a month (including all the outstation trips)... If somebody could please advise...

I have almost(99% :0) ) made up my mind to book Linea on the 15th of Jan.

Please advise.....

Prices seem good but we will have to wait for the exact features and specs list vis-a-vis the competition to be sure of the 'feature loaded at killer pricing' title for the Linea.

Am I missing something here? Fiat expects to sell more cars then Tata by 2010?!

Maybe the non-Taxi segment. And if we rule that out, do they even sell 1k cars per month ?

While one random dealer isn't much to go by, it is somewhat possible considering fiat has removed the banner from their site. They could be following in the footsteps of hyundai & its sudden i20 launch

The Fiat Linea

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Dec. 29 Fiat India Automobiles (FIAL), the joint venture of
Fiat and Tata Motors, has despatched the first batch of 100 Lineas
from its plant in Ranjangaon near Pune.

The cars, targeted at the premium C-segment, have reached 50 of the 65
dealerships under the Tata Fiat umbrella across the country. This
joint retailing initiative will see cars of both companies under one
roof.

More Lineas will be seen in these outlets in the coming days even
though its official launch is in mid-January. This is the time when
the price of the car, tipped to be in the range of Rs 7-9 lakh, will
be announced.

For the next fortnight, prospective customers could get an idea of
what the Linea represents. This is clearly part of a brand building
approach intended to pave the way for a faster booking schedule.

Target for Linea

The company has indicated in the recent past that it is targeting
monthly sales of 2,500 Lineas. In the context of the slowdown, this
may seem a challenging task coupled with the fact that there are
strong competing models in the premium C-segment such as the SX4,
Fiesta and Honda City. Fiat has, however, reiterated that it is
confident that the car will do well.

The Linea will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. From
the Italian carmaker's point of view, it is significant because it is
the first manufactured model from the Ranjangaon facility in contrast
to the Cinquecento (Fiat 500), which is directly imported and costs a
handful thanks to the 100 per cent plus import duty.

Grande Punto-the next model

The next model that will be part of the manufacturing agenda is the
Grande Punto sometime in the first quarter of 2009-10. Prior to this
will be the Bravo which, like the Cinquecento, is also being imported.

Fiat has gone on record to state that it is looking at annual volumes
of 70,000 cars in 2010 by which time its ally, Tata Motors will have
clocked 60,000 units. The company is also targeting production of
300,000 engines (200,000 diesel and 100,000 petrol) and transmissions
in this timeframe.

An ideal base

Fiat is seriously looking at Ranjangaon as a strategic global base for
small cars. The plant could also be home to the affordable car, which
is now at the drawing board stage. This car is intended for Europe but
will not sport the Fiat badge.
