Not one Indian product in the entire list that tops its respective segment?

I guess Maruti, especially, is living off it's network spread, goodwill of family decisions and the myth that it's cheap to maintain.

I can vouch for the Nano though. My brother has one and boy, he has tried almost everything in that vehicle including field trips, highway runs, carrying goods etc. While plasticky and overall very rudimentary quality, it just keeps on working. No troubles from engine, gearbox or the AC so far. *touchwood*

Not a spoof!

& Honda is below industry average!! So is Hyundai!

So many shocking things in that list. Skoda at the top. VW/Peugeot above Toyota/Honda and Honda/Hyundai below industry average.

Did someone invert the list?

Well! This is a totally different market with totally different penetration levels of VAG cars compared to India. They are quite a lot in number, and so are the number of service centres and brand related garages. I remember there were numbers of how many cars were affected by the dieselgate fraud in the related thread, that should give an indication. On a related note, I can quote the Chinese market of VW and their response for the infamous DQ200 issues.

The ratings for USA (OP of this thread) paint a similar picture. Suzuki is rock bottom, is exact opposite in India.

You'd be hard pressed to spot a Honda in Europe, I've seen hardly 2 Jazz and 2 Civics in my 3+ year of stay.

Why is 5-seater Jazz showing up in the MPV segment? Shouldn't it be in the compact segment?

If they manage to show improvement in the service department, there would be no stopping Tata. With competent products like Zest, Tiago, Hexa & Nexon, the top 3 position in sales doesn't look impossible for Tata motors.

Long-term vehicle dependability in India is improving, which means vehicle owners are happier with their steeds and manufacturing quality is also seeing an uptick.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is ranked highest in the recent JD Power study for sales satisfaction among mass market automotive brands in India. The rankings are based on evaluations of 7,604 car owners who purchased their new vehicles between September 2015 and April 2016.

The Sales Satisfaction index is prepared by rating the brands according to 6 factors with nearly equal weightage – Dealership facility (17%), deal & paperwork (17%), sales initiation (17%), delivery timing (17%), sales person (16%) and delivery process (16%).

With 838 points, Toyota tops the chart and excels in delivery process factory. Nissan finishes a close second with 831 points, thanks to a strong salesperson factor.

Honda, Hyundai, and Mahindra are tied at third place with 815 points each and Tata Motors emerge as the 6th and the last automaker to score above average points at 813. The industry average stands at 809.

Volkswagen finds itself in the 7th spot out of 12 mass market brands in India with 807 points. The country’s largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki which boasts of the widest dealership network is positioned at 8th place with a below average sales satisfaction index of 804 points.

Datsun, Chevrolet, Ford, and Renault bring up the tail at 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th respectively. Fiat and Skoda are excluded due to insufficient sample size of the data.

I am more surprised to see TATA on the second place. Happy to see that the efforts by Tata are getting rewarded.

The latest 2016 JD Power Customer Survey Index (after sales service) has thrown up a few surprises -

The "JD Power Study" Thread-jd2.jpg

http://www.autocarpro.in/news-nation...d-brands-22326

Sample size: 7843
Participants: Owners who bought a new car between May 2014 and Aug 2015

Quote:

The study findings reveal that even as carmakers collectively have improved their aftersales service satisfaction for the eighth consecutive year in India, satisfaction levels and service consistency vary greatly across regions.

Pleasantly surprised!
The sample size seems good, so the rankings are unlikely to be the result of biased statistics.
Let's hope these results actually reflect the car-owner mood and sway the car buyer sentiments appropriately.

Tata is above Toyota!! That should give some new firepower to the Hexa versus Crysta battle!!

For its own good, I hope Tata keeps up-ping its custormer service indices,
