Here is my prediction>>

It won't affect Honda CRV sales (Not much anyways)

CRV is all about style, ergonomics and car like feel and I don't think you get that in Fortuner

Its a classic case of Toyota being able to command a price that it wants.

If you are going to compare it to an Innova and cry foul over the large price differential, the Captiva has the Optra`s Engine and tranny too.

Compared to the Captiva, I`d anyday go in for a Fortuner.

Its irritating that they didnt price it cheaper! But its true that its a not a pathetically expensive price either.

As usual Toyota will get away with it.

@ Vasu

I`m hoping that used Captiva prices come down, a 2 year old Captiva for 10 Lakh would be better than a new Fortuner with 1 Lakh off!

CRV is hardly selling after the price increase. So even if Fortuner takes awy 100 units from it. It will still make a difference.

There is no way the Fortuner can affect the sale of the CRV because the CRV has not sold anything at all in the last few months. :D

The Fortuner, on the other hand, has already picked up over 2000 bookings.

Have decided not to go for Fortuner - price though is listed as reason no. 3 but must be the serious cause as had it been a bit more cheaper ( e.g. 14-15 on road) may have still bought it.

1. Delivery schedule - too delayed ( dealer quoted 4 months- better then book in 2010).
2. Manual tranny- ready to wait for delayed delivery if I had an option for AT.
3. No VFM- as a bit disappointed with interiors & features list- will keep Safari for few more months till I compare it a Fortuner AT with Endeavour AT (4WD).
