As you become acquainted to A/T driving, you shall learn modulating the gear with the gas pedal.

Which begs the question, what is the highest possible rpm one would consider to be absolutely safe, not in terms of FE, but in terms of engine care.
I have to do 2500rpm if I want to go from 60 to 90-100 in decent enough time.Time taken at even 2000 rpm feels almost like twice the time at 2500rpm.I think 2500rpm might be some kind of sweet spot.
The absolute max I'd take is to 3000rpm and it feels great but not without a slight feeling of guilt of wearing down the engine a bit.I have never intentionally done 4000rpm btw, sometimes accidentally maybe but only for a couple of seconds.

Ideally it should be just below the redline (going by the books) - but the autobox would shift far ahead of that.
I say 3000 rpm is good enough.
BTW - have you experienced kickdown? While going at 65, the kickdown mode thursts the car into 3rd gear and rpm leaps to around 5000 - and it feels WOW!

That's not legal currently. It hasn't got the RTO approval for that conversion.

Interesting. Do you have a list of approved cars to share.

Disagree. Given the pathetic boot size, this will lose the practicality aspect of this car entirely.

Disagree! reasons below

1.Large % of people who have an i-10 AT also have a second car which is bigger
2.Nobody buys AT car for holiday trips
3.Tons of hatchbacks with LPG-kits
4. Heard of torridal tanks?

Thats what I think happened when I mentioned crossing 3k rpm into the 4k+ rpm range accidentally.I agree it feels really awesome :D
Can we intentionally go into kickdown mode from time to time say if we wanted to overtake another car :) ?

There aren't many AT cars in the market to make a proper list of specifically cng ATs.
The Innova AT CNG immediately comes to my mind though.Probably the Corolla CNG has an AT option too?

As for your second part I'd disagree that people won't choose an AT for holiday trips.FE for AT depends a lot on the number of gear shifts being done which is larger than manual in city but pretty much the same on highway.Which is why my FE results on the highway are on par with a manual i10.Not that I'd recommend the i10 for a long drive for a family or a group of 3 or more but I wouldn't rule out the Innova CNG AT just because its an AT.

Yup!! Thats the very reason kickdown mode is there. Downshift and zoom....

Did anyone get an oil change done at the first service? I know Hyundai does not recommend it but TBHP's Article on Run-In recommends an oil change after 1000 kms.

Yes, I gotmy i10AT serviced on 8th May and I got the engine oil along with oil filter changed. The service advisor did mention that it was not required and the same could be carried out during 2nd service. However, I insisted on getting it changed and had to pay for the oil.

Cool! So how is the car behaving after the oil change? Any effect on FE?

Too early to say about FE. I have hardly covered 150kms in last 10 days and got tank filled up just once. I will keep you updated on FE once I cover 2000kms.

Friends, I voted for 10 to 12 kmpl. Finally this week I am through with my run in period of 2000kms. We are very pleased with performance of our car especially the FE. The FE is beyond expectations. We are getting close to 12 (11.8).

That is indeed good efficiency. With AC, I presume?

I too have a 2002 Santro AT (1.1 Liter engine). I get about 9.5 to 10.5 km/liter in city driving with a light foot.

I have a slightly OT question here.
Will the FE for all the AT be similar, or is there difference even between different technologies of AT that can make a difference in the FE figures of these cars.

I mean, given a relative scale, I would assume the FE figures of AT vehicle to be 5-7.kmpl less than the manual version of the car. Is there a way that a high technological advancement can bring down this difference to less than 2 kmpl difference between the AT version and manual version.

My i10 AT mileage is very less, am getting only about 6.5-7-8 in pure city driving with a/c all the time.
Trying to be light foot makes me get glares and stares and occasional verbal duels from all the other cars. so try to push it a bit and mileage gets pushed much faster.

Any tips to improve. Car has done about 5.500 kms and due for second service
