Folks,

I would like to post poll on the fuel efficiency of the i10 Automtic. There are a number of figures floatinag about. My Sister's car is returning just 6kpl, which I feel is on the lower side. Please let me know the figures returned by your cars. I would request only those who actually own/use the car participate in this poll.

ONE WORD: HORRRRIIIIIBBBBBLLLLLE!!!!!!

1st full tank: 5.62
2nd full tank: 5.5
Complained to Hyundai, they took the car and tweeked it. Just filled fuel yesterday and got an average of 6.2

There are many threads on this look it up:

My one month old i10 Sportz auto gives me around 8.8 KMPL. First time I filled Shell regular got 8.88 kmpl, second time filled regular petrol from IOL pump, got around 8.7 KMPL. Now I have filled shell premium, let see if I get more mileage. Hope to see an increase after the fisrt service.

Clearly there is something majorly wrong here? Even the Santro A/T used to return such figures only when perpetually driven in kickdown (friend had one). And three reports of poor FE (amongst the 4-5 cars we have on board) is disappointing, for such a fantastic city runabout.

wow. is this true?? only 5-6 kmpl.!! damn.

This is such a low FE. Any reasons identified for such a low FE? Is the gear ratio responsible for this FE?

Yup, it's true.

God knows why! The gear ratio is not long although in kick down mode or on drag style launch, the gear holds upto 6500RPM before shifting. However, my dad drives the car and doesn't ever overtake or use kickdown.

The i10 Sportz A/T in my family is currently returning an average of 7 to 9 KMPL, thinking about adding a replacement filter or Green Wind filter to see if there would be any improvement in the F.E Figures. We got this car due to the long waiting period of the ANHC A/T, but with these kind of fuel efficiency we could have got ourselves a low milage 2nd hand Camry or Honda Accord. :(

damn again :P!! you could have waited for it!! its worth the wait if u are a honda fan boy:D

This is really shocking. My dad is looking to buy an small AT car in the 4 - 5 Lakh range for everyday city driving and I suggested the i10. I guess I have to call him and tell him to wait for a while until there are some more confirmed inputs.

Just yesterday I also suggested the i10 Auto to my friend. She is scared to drive a manual transmission car... Now this would be a disaster, if the i10 is going to give her 6 kmpl FE...

A friend of mine gets around 7 kmpl in Gurgaon city driving.

I have an Santro AT (same gearbox but the Epsilon engine) since 2003 (about 30,000km). I average about 9.5-10kpl around town. The i10 Kappa has to do better.

Average for the first 2000 or so km is nonsensical. Only when the engine has run in a bit can you talk about the average.

I hope too, i have just done 650 odd kms on my car, obtained 7.5kmpl when i last checked around 3 weeks ago. Will not bother too much till 2000kms.

I partly agree to your statement. Granted that FE increases after the car has run in properly and first service has been done. However, that is no excuse for an abysmal FE.

All other cars i have owned, including known petrol guzzlers like the Accord AT have given better FEs and these have increased by 20% after first service. Here we are expecting atleast a 60% rise for the i10.
