Mistype, what I meant was 2WD-4WD(H) was on the fly. For 4L you needed to stop and shift

It is just a typo, just like you saying nuisances of 4WD instead of nuances of 4WD.

I was shocked at first to see you call 4WD a nuisance.

Perfect then. Thanks for clarifying. This typo could have been costly for someone new like me!

Off topic..
I wonder why Maruti is keeping Gypsy ICU for no reason!
If they are not selling, they can pretty well EOL or...

If they want to sell, now they have Fiat diesel, plonk it and add PS, they have a winner.

If they can sell Swift LDI with PS and diesel at its price, they can pretty well price gypsy competetively.

Untill Military want changes they will not do anything to upgrade. Front dash board still has look of 1992 so don't except anything from maruthi on gypsy.
Gypsy sells a lot check there website.

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

Gypsy sells in decent number mostly to govt/army etc. Look at the October sales figures posted on the main section of this forum.

I guess diesel engine makes more power and torque than present one. Why dont they plonk 1.6 petrol in there.

Its a 2005 thread!! Thank God someone mentioned about Fortuner not launched yet.

It is shocking to read so much about Gypsy's poor ride quality.

@rhandle- You have gurkha then why are you planning for another 4x4. You want to have another one or are you thinking of selling it??

Its high time for Maruti to replace aging Gypsy with Gymny, like in other markets. Ofcourse, DDIS 1.3 Multijet is the most preferred engine option of Gymny!

At least this would be better idea for a new Gypsy. Diesel eng for Gypsy would be a deal breaker.
Maruti is in trouble about providing diesel eng for Swift & Rtiz for long waiting periods, guess what will happen if Gypsy join the league.

Bringing JIMNY to Indian market is very old talk. MSIL promised to bring this in End of 2003. But they went to sleep mode. Never woke up.

Sir Do you know the nearest Gurkha with my specs is in Chandigarh and next one is in Banaras (this one is OM616), towards west it is in Ahemdabad.

What happens if I break something. Even the hose pipes are not same design as of other trax models. I had to manage with JUGAD.

So I am thinking best thing to do is to have Gurkha for Jungle and trail blazer kind of trips and Gypsy or jeep for NIOC kind. Also my son is growing go to hook him on to this. It would be good if he is early starter rather than late starter like me!
