74bhp diesel CRDI
Infact punto has 77bhp for 1.4 fgt. Not worth it. would be happy if it has the 90bhp under the hood with price under 7l

Rs. 6,25,000
That should be ex showroom. on road it would be somewhere between 7.1 to 7.2.

If that is the real pricing then it is a stonker of a car

Well...A reliable source of mine working in Hyundai has told me that the I20 CRDI will be launched somewhere in September-October, close to Diwali.

It would suck if the car doesnt have ABS, at least as an option!

The i20 CRDi is getting launched on 7th July along with i20 Auto (petrol).

The i20 CRDi is only coming in one variant Asta. It has all the features of petrol Asta except the ABS. Price will be around 6.2 ex-showroom Delhi.

Awesome that will be the great news. Hope they have the A/T version for the diesel engine also.

Went to a Hyundai showroom today for regular service. Got the following information.

1. Training for crdi was given and completed yesterday.
2. New 1.3L petrol i20 and 1.4L CRDi is coming
3. The demo vehicles are already on the way today but would be available for test drive only after official launch.
4. The launch is in the first week of July - so close.

Waiting for the detailed specs/features.

Engine specs look good. I'm glad they are launching the variant with VGT. Disappointing if they don't have ABS even as an option. Interesting to note the car would have Airbags, but no ABS. Similar to what Skoda does on the lower spec Fabia, I guess.

That's news! Never knew they had a 1.3L i20 petrol.

The dealership in Cochin still knows nothing about it, except that it has 90bhp, and is coming in july!!

Also, the petrol should be 1.4 i think, there is no 1.3L i20

If they are pricing the i20 CRDi at 6 lacs ex showroom then its going to be a killer. ABS should be given atleast as an option if not by default. It might end the roads for a lot of cars (hatchbacks). It is the hottest looking hatchback right now according to me. Nothing has to be publicised about Hyundai's diesel engines. Every one knows the diesel power of Hyundai. Pricing is the key.

Way to go Hyundai! . The question i have is will Getz CRDi get discontinued or will be sold alongside i20 Diesel at a even more discounted price? If it is sold alongside with a even more reduced price tag then i feel Hyundai would rule this segment.

I don't see a price tag of 6 lacs ex-showroom. Remember even the Petrol Asta costs 5.6 lacs ex-showroom Delhi. And that is after availing the duty cuts due to the 1.2 engine. But even if Hyundai prices it at 6.25 ex-showroom Delhi, IMHO it is decent VFM with ABS optional for say another 20k. But this price would surely mean a cut in Petrol version's prices.

Will I buy it? Hell no, Punto all the way for me.

6.25L! that takes the OTR price close to 7L
Punto has the top end mjd model at that price.
This i20 could have been a killer with the abs.
why hyundai? why no abs
The abs is a much important feature than the airbags in my opinion.
Remember abs is a proactive safety feature whereas airbags are reactive safety feature.

Excellent catch, Geeash! Thanks for sharing it with us.

The Jazz' astronomical pricing has woken Hyundai up, here is there chance to get one up on Honda. A diesel i20, if well priced, would create an all new segment in itself. I am really looking forward to this hatch....pretty much love everything about the i20, save for the puny 1.2 L petrol. The diesel's torque has got to make urban driveability a breeze.

I spoke to a guy at A1 the dealer in Andheri East and even he said first week of July. He also mentioned the price will be announced after the budget. Hyundai want to play it safe, in case there is a further reduction, they will say "We are pleased to announce that we are passing on the benefit to the customer and the price ex-showroom will be ________".
