Hmmm nice. Looks like the typical French temporary number plates (silver on red), but the format is expected to be XX-NNN-ZZ.

Spotted the Citroen C5 in Gurudwara Bangla Sahib's (New Delhi) Parking Lot. The same registration number, since it's the same car I'm not blurring the registration plate.

We have been hearing of Citroen coming to India for some time, courtesy AutoCar India carrying articles, some time back.

However, Citroen (PSA) will have a tough time this time round for the following reasons :

1. PSA is a very Eurocentric auto manufacturer, with minimal presence in major growth markets. This might change from here on.

2. They will certainly one of the very last to join in in the Indian car market and will have a very tough act.

3. Citroen's quality has been a question mark for some time now and its appeal has fallen ever since Peugeot acquired centrestage in PSA ( its glory years of the DS, the SM, the CX are long gone; the last true Citroen was the XM, with its styling and quirks so typical of Citroen.

My sense is Citroen will take some time ( two years) to enter India as they have to create and build the brand image ( most Indians wouldn't know Citroen). Then comes the choice of models suited for Indian tastes and price points.

Not easy.

Regards

There is some news about PSA setting up factory near hyderabad. So we could expect theirs cars to enter the market by first quarter of 2011.
