Finally managed to see the xeta LPG in person for the first time. Also a couple of good looking nanos.

Hi Sid,
Your stoay is one of best outpouring of memories, apart from the stories, one aspect of Indica story is an story of outstanding characters of Ratan Tata ie. dreaming the against odds.
When indica was conceived the auto sector was going thorough first recession of 95-96, during that time a total outlay of 1700 crores for green field passenger car (Indica) project was bravery for sure.
Before that not even an indigenous two wheeler was conveived fully. Even the thought of competing with Japanese and Korean in Automotive fields was audacious.
Nowadays everyone is obseessed with nit-picking the smaller faults of Tatas,should understand the "audacious effort of indigenous Car' and not only conceived but standing to multinationals is an outstanding story of courage.
The large number of vehicles , with features ie. affordability, TCO, diesel economy is sure a tribute by Average Indians to this great idea. Absolute endorsement by Taxi community who's life depends on vehicles, surely says a lot about the product.
Products,processes,technology is not built in a day, but while finding smaller faults with indigenous products/projects, no one should forget the bold dream the pioneers who dared to dream.
Here is one salute to an indigenous dream which become reality and one outstanding story told by Sid!!

@hiren959

Thanx for posting.:thumbs up

Indica V2 DLS is offered for Rs 3,59,000(Approx) after all discounts(25000+5000(Ex. bonus)+special discount) here in Kerala.True Value For Money.Sadly ,this car is sold mostly as taxi.It is a issue for private buyers(who are looking for VFM Car).

I was very surprised to see so many indicas in ekm when i visited the place last week. I thought there was enough in tvm, but its almost like there is an indica everywhere in ernakulam :D

i still believe, indica DLS offers true VFM, price offered, space inside and a diesel engine which is proved and proven with wide network range.

Can you post the pics of the entire article relating to the Indica from both the magazines PLEASE? I have none of them. I will save it and read it tonight.

You have referred to 'both the magazines' above. The Auto India one has been posted.

I have scanned similar stories from The Indian Auto as well as Car and BIke of January 1999.

May I post it here?

BTW does anyone have the article on indica V2 first drive on autocar India's either of the January/ February/ March 2001 issues? It has a picture of a golden indica on the cover titled "new indica v2 without the bugs".
