Certainly not.

Imagine the predicament of the dude who started this thread. He was out to buy a car with a shortlist(remember that?), and ended up meeting a million mallus....

I would be using the car for around 20 kms a day + dropping my dad in the office early morning, so for a week I'd be doing 210 - 240 kms + general outing or something, you know..... I'm mostly looking for:

1. Good/Decent FE [11 or 11+]
2. Good Ride and Handling
3. A good and responsive PS
4. Decent luggage Space and comfortable seating for 5 [sadly the criteria where Wagon R loses ]
5. Good Power and pickup..[for the weekend trips and drives]

I'm hoping this info would do. Please let me know if I should put more things down.. Thanks

Ajay,

I would recommend you the New Amby Grand.. With a P/S and A/c check it out.. Its will within your budget.. And you won't regret the decision.. Get a test-drive first..

When Buying A Car can get Taxing....

lolol sandeep... Your comment was hilarious...

Well, now, I only need to wait and see what to pick up. The Petrol or Diesel Indica.....Or the Palio 1.2 [there I go again] As someone on some other post made sense that even though Petrol and Diesel prices may match in 3-4 yrs from now, the diesel vehicle still gives more mileage compared to the petrol one, and thus makes more sense to buy a diesel indica.... Thats if one is willing to compromise on the performance....

I'll do a final round of 'satisfaction test-drives' of the Petrol Palio and Indica and see what I'll settle for by this month end... Will keep you folks posted...

Thanks to everyone for your valuable suggestions... an amazing 3 pages... wow ... But do keep your suggestions and opinions coming.... You know I need them....

Abhay: Its not that I need to be influenced by others to buy a vehicle, but I guess you know the power of "word-of-mouth" communication. I could really benefit a lot by asking car owners here of real life experiences than believe what a sales guy is going to commit when I'm checking his vehicle out... Thats what I hang around on this forum for.... The people and their opinions

Thanks All

Ajay Karthick

I routinely upshift only at or above 2000 rpm in each gear, never go into 5th below 60.

I don't think its underpowered - maybe others with more exotic & powerful machinery do.

I'm sorry hrag, you got me wrong... I didn't mean the Petrol Indica is underpowered but the Diesel Indica... The petrol Indica boasts of 75bhp, which is presume is more than enough for a car like Indica...

I'll be really grateful if you could pm details like how much you've spent in maintain the car till date, general repairs done, etc, which could help me take a decision...

Thanks mate.

I have a small request from Palio owners in Chennai. [Mr.v_s_natarajan and others]

Can you please post your ownership experiences with regards to:

1. Servicing at the dealer workshop
2. General vehicle problems
3. Experience in dealing with showroom people while buying the palio and while servicing vehicle [sundaram auto]
4. Most replaced parts/ parts that breakdown often
5. general mileage in city driving conditions [wtih ac]
6. Things that I should be aware of and be ready to accept should I wish to own a palio[1.2]

I'm sorry to be so troublesome in nature, but your views would help...

Thanks much!

Ajay, of course I didnt mean to tell you what to do and not seek opinions but sometimes on the boards many opinions are just that....opinions :-)
I mean the person trashing the petrol Indica may not have driven it even once and same with the Palio ...hehe...btw plz read my review as well.
My car has done abt 6k now w/o a hitch and mileage I have got till now is roughly 13/14 kmpl (65% highway and not much a/c usage) so I think thats good enough.
