An interesting piece of information from fellow BHPian KMohanan on the thread below, on fitting the AC for the 7 seater version of the Eeco :

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/commer...ml#post2115881

Post reproduced below in italics :

"Today, I called KOCHI maruti dealer and checked up the exact prices of Maruti Eeco van.

They have three variants. All prices below are ON ROAD PRICES (means Including Road Tax, Insurance, Registration etc)

5 seater Non-AC : 3.25 Lakhs
5 seater AC : 3.65 Lakhs.
7 seater Non-AC : 3.51 Lakhs.

7 seater AC is not available. But, dealer told they can get a genuine maruti AC fitted with warantee (and not loosing any engine warrantee etc from maruti) by spending another Rs. 35,000. So, 7 seater AC : 3.86 Lakhs."

I wonder how the engine will pull, and if someone has already done this for their 7 seater Eeco !

Re: The Maruti Eeco minivan (EDIT: now launched for 2.6 Lakhs)

Didn't find an appropriate thread to discuss the APv so discussing it here.
Am seeing lots of APVs here in Riyadh, though mostly popular as a panel van in here.
Can't find any excuses from MSIL's part to justify not launching it in India.
It has everything to make it a success except a diesel heart, but neither does the Eeco which doesn't stop it from being a strong seller.

Does MSIL have any plans to introduce a AC Power Steering version? Any reliable info on this?

Maruti seems to have launched a "smiles" edition of the eeco. Read this on carwale.com. Powerful "horn" seems to be one of the features. The usual limited edition features are also present.

It's surprising how many things we take for granted are highlighted by Indian vehicle manufacturers as 'features'. I showed the ad to an acquaintance who remarked:
* A double-din is usually a negative (he's an I.T. guy... sysadmin or network admin - it takes up more space limiting future add-ons). And all this space for one USB port?
* Wheel covers, floor mats, and mud flaps: Aren't they just a part of the car? Something like advertising a laptop with the a keyboard and touchpad as features?
* Dual-tone seat covers: It's just a different color. How is that a feature?

I have yet to show him the ads for the 'all-new' models by Indian manufacturers :-D

Does anyone know about Eeco Diesel? My uncle is planning to exchange his wagon R. On enquiring about Ritz he was told that, Ritz production has been stopped and maruti is planning to launch Eeco Diesel post newyear. Is it true? If so, what engine will they employ? 1.3L mjt or DDiS 125 from celerio?

I really doubt the DDIS 125 will make enough power to move the EECO. Although it has 25% more torque than the petrol motor it has less than half the horsepower.

If the Eeco is launched with a diesel heart maybe maruti will implement the 3 cylinder version like the chevy beat. Would make more sense.

Eeco is almost a commercial vehicle now; having said that, it done, EECO will fly out of showrooms as for diesel motors HP doesn't matter but torque does.
