The CC of the D2 engine is already in the Mahindra press release.

What is written in the press release is 2.5 Litre engine which can actually refer to both the 2498cc Bolero/Xylo Mill or to the 2523 DI Turbo mill. As a matter of fact M&M calls the Bolero Mill as 2.49L CRDe whereas in XYLO it is called a 2.5 L M-Eagle.

i dont think xylo failed at all in competing with the innova
it simply came in and created a new sub-segment at an extreme value price point.

Hence, a lot of people who could afford a sedan but actually needed a larger MPV/MUV and at the same time could not afford an Innova suddenly received an extremely viable option in the persona of the xylo!

in that sense (as well as its clear sales figures) the xylo is certainly a successful vehicle.

the self same xylo with this new engine variant is an extremely viable option for a taxi operator - and in my opinion, makes a lot more sense than say, the Sumo Grande Mk 2, given the seating and space that the xylo has in comparison! and it is certainly an option for the taxi segment who are a little hesitant to buy the innova on account of price!

Hi Shankar,

One of the first impressions I had when I sat on the third row of Xylo was that it has lots of legroom, but sorely lacks thigh support. For adults, sitting over 3-4 hours at a stretch will be a real pain.

Try sitting on a Innova over the same distance and then compare with Xylo. I have already sat over 7 hrs in a Innova 3rd row seat and me despite being 5'6" wasn't comfortabel at all.

Nice H3lios. Hardly seen any on road though.

205/65 is going to look very skinny for the Xylo.

can somebody pls explain the engine options mahindra using?
1> 2.5 L bolero di turbo 62 bhp
2> 2.5 L crde bolero vlx 90 bhp
3> 2.5 L m egle xylo 112 bhp
4> 2.5 L D2 xylo
are they useing the same block engine and doing all these variants? its understandable that bolero's di engine after giving it a comman rail treatment has gone to 90 bhp , but then from where this xylo's engine came ? is it the 2.6 L scorpio's engine in twicked form ?

i have an innova & have travelled a lot in its 3rd row. but one short drive in the xylo's 3rd row was enough to reveal that the xylo's 3rd row seat is more comfortable than the innova's. however, the xylo is more bouncy than the innova.

Your queries had already been explained in my previous post

Both the Bolero CRDe and Xylo have 2498 cc and has its base on the old XD3P engine. The bolero mill produce max Torque of 255nmb/w 1800-2200rpm whereas the XYLO mill produces only 24kgm or 235.2 Nm b/w 1800-3000rpm. The difference between these two motors is the ECM settings which produces a slightl;y reduced but a flatter torque curve on the Xylo.

Even though the tech details of the XYLO D2 engine is not available, from the available details, it looks like they have just retuned the ECM to get max torque at a very low RPM range thereby providing greater mileage.

Please remember the M&M actually have only 2 or 3 engine platforms and they keep tweaking in them only to get new variants. Just like the Scorpio M2DI mill is nothing but a tweaked Bolero DI Turbo engine.
Also the Bolero DI Turbo is a different platform and is a 2523CC engine compared to the 2498cc engine in the Bolero CRDe and Xylo m-Eagle.

I would like to hold my comments on the D2 engine till I get further info.

Cheers

oh, just took a Xylo E6, painted it in white, added stickers, ski racks & DVD player/screen (the last two which they offer as accessories in the mahindra showroom) & there you get the limited edition.

cmon mahindra, dont be a maruti.
