I previously owned only the City amongst the listed cars. In 5 years, the rattles were sporadic mostly audible from the driver's door panel/glass area and sometimes the dashboard. Overall, a rattle-free experience.

My Swift does rattle on and off and requires attention atleast once in 2 months to sort them out. The only major grouse I have against the Swift are the rattles. Seems like they come free with the car lol:

My 6 month old Altis has done 4.5K km and so far there are no rattles. Being cribby by nature, I seem to hear the faintest of sounds coming from the door panel on bad roads but that's about it. Strangely, only I seem to hear the rattle and no one else. Though not European style build, the build is 10x better than the Swift which I own.

I guess it has to be the Honda City. That car is built too well. As for the Octavia, well we have one in the family and although its built like a super tank, there is something about the rear left door. It makes a subtle 'ktick ktick' sound on and off. Even the service guys are unable to determine the cause for the rear left door issue!

The question is loaded. All cars will rattle if they are not taken care of. Of the cars listed, I would think that the SX4 would have more tendency to rattle mainly because of Maruti's fondness for that sound. But to my knowledge I have not sat in an SX4 that rattled. Hmm ...

I have a 2005 Opel Corsa.. driven it on the roads (or lack of them) in Gurgaon..

no rattles so far..

Have a 2005 Zen.. driven it in Pune (during the Youth Games when all roads leading to the Balewadi Sports Complex were dug up n cemented).. and its now in Gurgaon..

rattles like CRAZY!! my mum compares it to a state transport bus!

Fiat linea emotion diesel done 40,000 Kms in 1.2 yrs......No rattle So far........

I own an Optra and voted for same based on my ownership experience.

Though some noises are audible while driving on very (very) rough patches. In fact those patches would not qualify for roads and hence the noise is not rattling.

Just a thought. RAther than polling for "Which car does not rattle", a poll for "Which car rattles?" may perhaps throw up a different result. :)

My 2005 Maruti Zen badly rattles. My trusted Corsa (which I sold recently), never had a single rattle in the 8 years of ownership.

Still doesn't rattle! Despite being driven in Gurgaon and Bangalore; there's not a squeak from either inside or outside.

Terrific build quality!

I voted for Linea (20K kms done). I have a Spark which is rattle-free (25K kms) . Had a Santro earlier apart from a funny exhaust note no rattles in that too.

Linea (D) No rattles - 59,000 Kms ( Had one near 51,000 got rectified- Sway bar noise )
Alto Few rattles - 6,000 Kms ( Creek Creek Noise, have to check, next service)

My 6 year old Ikon has done almost 59K kms, has been transported by truck from Del - Blr , Blr - Del and again Del - Blr. Not a single rattle, ever :)

My '07 IKON, covered over a lac kilometers. Except for the broken JBL GTO937's cover, there is not one rattle.

Other than the IKON, I would also vote for the Fiesta and the Optra. Have seen 1lac + examples running without a rattle. Oh.. and yes, the Opel Astra.

All,

This has been there in my mind for quite sometime now. I had a heated debate with couple of my colleagues when we were discussing about cars and the most frustrating thing in any car - rattling issues.

So I thought of creating this poll. Please share your 2 cents. This will help many of them who are looking forward to buy a sedan which does not rattle.

Please keep in mind that any sound that comes from the interior plastic / parcel tray or any thing of that sort has to be taken into consideration.

How are the poll results supposed to be interpreted?

A car which more members have is likely to get more number of votes, even though it may suffer if one was to consider "what percentage of that car's examples rattle?"

Say for example, the ANHC has 24.25% votes now. The Aveo only 3.36%. It may just be a reflection of the forum members having experienced the ANHC a lot more than the Aveo.

Raj makes a very interesting point here!

My main point is that such polls can be very deceptive
and should be interpreted with caution.

I bet all cars rattle on our roads. My 2 cents.

2002 Hyundai Santro and 2005 Ford Fusion+ (just sold). Both were pre-owned cars when i bought. And both do not rattle. I must be deaf, i guess.
