All,

This has been there in my mind for quite sometime now. I had a heated debate with couple of my colleagues when we were discussing about cars and the most frustrating thing in any car - rattling issues.

So I thought of creating this poll. Please share your 2 cents. This will help many of them who are looking forward to buy a sedan which does not rattle.

Please keep in mind that any sound that comes from the interior plastic / parcel tray or any thing of that sort has to be taken into consideration.

Regards,
Sathya

Voted for AVEO.

Reason, I own a AVEO and in my ownership of 3.5 years there has not been a single rattle, it still feels as if you have just rolled her out of the showroom.

Depends on how you keep the Car,and also your driving habits.

A friends Octavia rattles much more than my Accent that was bought at the same time and has similar no of Km's on Odo

Garfield doesn't rattle! (Well no one will get the joke after the title gets edited but still...)

Anyway, why have only certain cars been included in the poll?

My previous car, the Optra never rattled one bit. So I vote for Optra Magnum

It may also depends on the road condition where you drive the car !
Roads with potholes and /or rough surface with metals will give any car some kind of
rattling noises from the car, even if it is a new one?

My Sep 2004 Ikon 1.6 zxi has seen 70k of roads some of them such as the ones shown below.

The car does not rattle. (although the rear parcel shelf sometimes need a packing - thats about it)

But its an entry level sedan for most. Hardly appealing in the social circles. Its not a Tank either.

I had votes for SX4 since my friend who has one for past 2 years does not rattle.
In hatchbacks i can vouch for the old WagonR. No rattles in 6 years of ownership!

Wow, that's tough on the car. BTW why only specific models are included in this poll? A lot of rattling issues could arise only due to driving habits of the rider, in spite of sturdy design! A city or a civic will invariably always find it tough on 1100D's type terrain (pics above).

I dont think there are any 'cats' which rattle. :D

On a serious note, my '07 fiesta has no rattles till date. (touchwood)

Have been driving my SX4 for the last 2.5 years (Almost 30k Kms). I haven't faced rattles thus far (touch wood)

I usually drive Brother's Verna.
It's rattle free car and sound insulation is also very good.
I tried all other cars in the listing and Verna wins with hands down.

My Aug 2004 opel corsa has done about 56k kms. Nothing much in there that vibrates.

No mention of Corolla, Jetta even as Octavia makes the list ???

IMHO, Indian road conditions make a joke out of Quality control measures employed by Auto majors and hence while persistent and common rattling issues in particular vehicles (Swift, Indica, SAFARI!) could be blamed on weak quality control, usually it is due to Indian road conditions and driving etiquette.

In my personal experiences, Jetta has proved its mettle against most other 10+ Lac vehicles we have owned (I must admit we have only owned Safari, and two octavias at different times so competition wasn't difficult for Jetta :D )

In sub 10 L vehicles, I absolutely loved the build quality of Fiat Palio 1.6 Sport. This is one vehicle I must admit is built like a Tank.

Sadly, neither of the vehicles feature in this list. So, maybe I am getting something wrong... :)

Would have voted for Accent if it was in the list. The other two cars in the family M800 and Esteem rattle like hell. I think the only Maruti vehicle from the 90s that doesn't rattle much is Zen.
